tire rotation
tire rotation
Hi everyone,
I have an 06 sedan with the sport package 18's and stock goodyears with 17k on the car and the tires have never been rotated. This is my first rwd car so I want to know the proper way to rotate the tires.
With my old I35, the fronts aways wore faster than the rear so I would just switch them front and back but on this car, when looking at the treads, the front and backs look evenly wore. My common sense tells me to still rotate them front and back but my question is, unlike FWD, is it better to have your newer tread on the rear wheels that drive the car or stay on the front that steer? Also, do I only do front to back or do I also need to go side to side.
I havent taken the tires off yet but they both front and back look about the same as far as tread wear with maybe a little more wear on the front but not as much as i'm used to with the old car.
Thanks for any input in advanced.

if all four of your wheels are the same width you can rotate them front to back, back to front
but since you have the sport package, im guessing (although i could be wrong) the rear will be wider than the front, if this is the case...you shouldnt rotate them, the rear will wear out faster than the front...so you'll have to wait til its worn and buy new rears...wait til fronts are worn and buy new fronts
also, i dont know if the front and rear hub bore are the same size on the g35, i used to have a S2000 and the front hub bore are bigger than the rear so you cant put the rear wheels on the front but you can use the front for the rear (in case you get a flat in the rear)
and you said that it seems like your fronts and rears are worn evenly? is it possible that you have a g35x which is awd?
