Final word on VQ Exhaust
ok, now i know that a lot of us sedan owners have tried to get our cars exhaust note to sound more like the coupe and the 350z. now the once and for all, is it the actual muffler (exhaust) that creates the different tone or is it the premuffler (glasspack) that is creating the difference in sound? even the FX has that simular kind of gurgle that the coupe and 350z have. i would like the final word on this matter so i can sleep easier at night! if anyone know please respond.

Changing the muffler makes only a very small difference in sound. The big change in sound and power happens when you remove the silencer. Changing your exhaust to a "Y" pipe back or full cat-back exhaust will bring more sound and more power.

yea thats all fine and dandy but i what we really want is our car to sound like the coupe or the fx.... i heard the sound these after market exhusts produce, and frankly, i dont care for it... is it possible to get the same sound, or exhust??

It is absolutely impossible to run the coupe exhaust on the sedan. Closest I've heard is to do the premuffler mod, either replacing it with the coupe's mid pipe or installing a 22" 4" round muffler as a resonator. Keep in mind that the coupe get's a performance muffler. The sedan get's the variable capacity design.
Now on the FX and it's exhaust system, I'd have to look under the FX to get a idea.

I went with an 18" Allied muffler. Sounded a lot like my buddy's 350Z.
