Weird noise from below engine bay!
Weird noise from below engine bay!
What's up yall! I just bought my 2004 G35 coupe last Nov. 22. 2003. While I am impressed with its performance needless to say, I recently started hearing a noise coming from underneath the engine bay. This only happens when I first start the car, put it in gear and drive a couple of feet as the car swithces to second gear. I would describe the noise as a spring being pulled and makes a clicking noise as it is let go. If anyone can shed some light on this problem, I would appreciate it. I brought the car back to the dealer, Glendale Infiniti, and they said that they would get to the bottom of it. Meanwhile, I received a loaner car and guess what? The noise came from the loaner car as well. Is this a standard noise? My G35 is a coupe and the loaner is a sedan. I'm wondering if this is a frequently occurring problem. I hope not. Most likely people may not hear this noise because of their system blasting in the background. JDking said that it was just the VDC calibrating and I shouldn't be concerned. But if this is true why wouldn't the Infiniti mechanics tell me that it was the VDC system. The mechanic said that he never heard anything like that before. So I still am weary regarding this problem. If anyone can help...please reply...sorry for the long post. Do all G35 sedans and coupes make this noise?
Re: Weird noise from below engine bay!
Sounds like it's the ABS system doing a self-test. It happens when the car reaches about 7mph every time you start it up. If you have a foot on the brake (usually if you're in an inclined parking lot and heading down) when the car hits 7, you can probably feel the vibration in the pedal. It's normal. They all do it. I have no idea why your dealership didn't realize it quickly.
