2004 G35 AT Sedan Help!
Sup, i just wanted to know what does the 350Z intake tube do for the G35, does it make it faster or something? i hear alot of people are getting that or the injen, which is better?
Re: 2004 G35 AT Sedan Help!
Their are four groups of thinking on intakes.
The first two groups can include people that believe that the oem intake setup is able to positively charge the intake system at speed, to pressurerize if you will.
1. Says the oem setup with a K&N filter is the best way to go.
2. The other says that the oem setup is the best way to go, providing that you replace the G35's intake part (the one that goes from the throttle body to the MAF sensor) the same from the Z. The G35 part has a resonator that restricts flow, Z part does not have this. (Arguement against groups 1 and 2 is that the oem system does not deliver as cold of a intake charge as a CAI setup does)
3. Belivers that the oem setup is not as good as it could be, this would include people installing the JWT popcharger and the Stillen CAI (Arguement against this group is that it does not pressurerise at speed like the oem setup).
4. Believers in long tube CAI's, usually these use larger tubing diameters. Theory says these might deliver the coldest possible air of all the setup's. (Arguments againt, long tube makes engine labor to draw air. You lose low end torque (I tried looking and I can't find dyno's to prove this at all) Larger diameter tubing has lower peak flow numbers because it is TOO large to flow best when high flow rates are demanded of them. They will hydrolock the motor. (Get a bypass valve or don't wade with the car) It will make your car stall. (Other systems have had their shaire of problems when owners don't follow proper ECU reset rules nor give the ECU time to learn).
I have the Injen CAI, never seen any problems in any way. If I were to buy a new setup, I would either get the Z tube and a K&N filter or the popcharger* with the Z tube.
*Providing that it passed my standards for NO possible injestion of hot underhood air (lil suspecious of that).
