Quarter panel replacement w/ pics
Quarter panel replacement w/ pics
Not a DIY, but you might find interesting...
I thought some of you guys might like an "inside" peek of the car we all
love so much.
Heres a quick rundown of some of the steps your car would
go through if you're unlucky enough to get smashed by one of the millions
of R-tards on the road.
The damage:

Dissasemble:

Start drilling, grinding, and cutting:

Remove old panel:

Test fit and weld/glue-in new panel:

Etch primer (in pic), and surfacer(not sprayed yet):

We should be done next week, and I'll have my baby back FINALLY!!
Good things come to those who wait though. I've been thinking of
painting my rockers, and front bumper so this is the perfect
opprotunity to get everything done at once.
I'll update next week when complete.

Question. did they try to straighten the fender first before deciding to do the Q panel replacement?

The rough-out pic has about half an hour of work into it, and could have easily been pick and filed straight in less than a day. I'm getting paid to work on my own car so I thought I'd take my time, and replace it.
Quarter panel cost: $503, and 16 hours for labour.
So that's how you guys do it. I always wondered how much real labor was involved in a quarter panel replacement. I wouldn't have the nads to do my own car bodywork repair though. The thought of sawing it apart makes me cringe.
Looks cool, can you get some larger pics up, I wanna save them.
Also, while the panel was off... I woulda went crazy and dynamatted it lol.

thankyou so much for putting this info on here! I am getting my rear .25 done too. Im gonna get the lowers painted too. My car got hit by a riding mower on my rear right quarter along with rock chips on the rest of the body. My insurance adjuster estimated $2176.00 for everything to get fixed. MistaChen do you think that is a good estimate?

Infiniti quarter panel, labour and refinish time alone is around $2000 CDN. If its repaired, and not replaced you'd keep the blend inside the quarter panel, but if it's replaced you'll have to blend into the door.
Blend the rear door + pillar, R+I trim, mouldings, handle, and paint/shop materials your up another $1000. Just find out whats all on the estimate.

Last month I replaced the rear "bumper-bar-thing" that goes under the taillights, and over the exhaust on a Diablo VT 6.0 SE. It took 3 months to be shipped from Italy, and was like $10G... for a fuggin' bumper!
