Really? I didn't think a 4-cyl legacy would be any more than similar era G. I thought a G is in a different class to be honest.

I have enjoyed my G. Some minor problems, aside from a recent tranny-clutch job under warranty, but nothing serious enough to sway me from recommending the purchase of a quality used G.

as always, due diligence is req'd with any used vehicle. inspect inspect inspect at a reputable garage, or Infiniti dealer.

Yeah the current body style, '05 and up, Leggy GT with the turbo 2.5L is still over $20K, and I know of at least 2 or 3 2003.5 G35's with 50k-60k mi that I could get for around $15k. I know that the VQ is an awesome engine and other than the oil consumtion I have total faith in the engine, I haven't read about many problems with the auto tranny, I am just a little worried about the electricals, and things that I can't fix myself.

First off, hello Russell and welcome.

I see you have done a lot of research on here before asking your questions. Thank you very much for taking that time and not asking the same questions that we see over and over.

I think the G is a great car and has come down to a good price point for the 03/04's. If that is what is in your range you will be very happy with it.

You can always upgrade your brakes to something that will last longer and work better without killing your wallet like the Racing Brake 13" oem caliper kit with Hawk pads. It will help your brake performance and get you out of those undersized ones that wear out fast because they are forced to work too hard.

You are going to have rattles with most cars and at least members on here have found how to fix most of them for you.

My stock radio (non-bose) played CD-R's just fine. It would not play MP3 CD's but would if they were burned to standard wav files. There have been many members who have had problems with the factory radio. It seems the Bose one has more issues but that may be because there are a lot of those out there. I think more were made with than without. IMO the non-bose sounds way, way better. Less bass but much better sounding.

The 5AT is a great tranny. You will be very happy with it. Lots of power off the line and overall a very solid unit. Much better than the 6MT which has it's share of problems.

As for the other possible problems you bring up. I think those are few and far between. You take that risk with any car. I don't think there is any big reason for concern.

Since the one you get will most likely be out of warranty you might want to consider making a list of the technical service bulletins that concern you and if you buy one from a dealer have them complete those before you take delivery.

Good luck with your hunting and maybe we will see you around here more.

-Tim

Wow that is great info, thank you very much. I really have my heart set on a Carribian Blue 2003.5 I found with 57K miles, and the preimum interior, i think, it has the silver plastic trim, on the console, and on the door pulls, does that mean it has the auto up and down windows, memory seats, ect....? I really want to buy the car, but I have to be able to trust it, so I will do as much reading and learning as I can. The car is not at an Infifiti dealer, but if I get the VIN can I call one and get the maintence records, and info on performed recalls and tech bullitins?
Thanks again!!

I see that it also has 5-spoke wheels, if they are the originals that would make it a sport suspension, right?
