The maintenance guide says you should do it every 3750mi. If you go synthetic you should be able to do it every 5k mi.

Changing your oil is one of the easiest things to do for your car to make it last long. What happens to the oil in your motor is that it gets dirty, that is why it needs to be changed. The actual oil would last a very long time, but the additive package breaks down and the oil gets dirty. If you could clean it and replace the additives you would never need to change it, but since we can't do that very well on our cars we have to change our oil. Synthetic oil is nice but expensive for most people to change as often. If you change you oil every 3,000 miles natural oil is fine, just us a good brand.

Now go change your oil.

I use synthetic and I got my warning set at 3750 so by the time I get to it, Im at 5k. LOL

There was this guy who recently posted a thread about the whole idea of the industry profiting on the fact that we are TOLD to change oil every 3000-3500 miles BUT according him, he does his every 10k. I dont know what to believe, but I know I drive my car fairly hard so I never exceed 5k.

If you are looking for a good cheap oil, go with Castrol GTX 5W30. It is a great oil.

I run Motul 300V 5W40 in my Twin Turbo G, but that stuff is about $13 per quart.

I'd change it asap with a quality dino or synthetic. In a 5w-30 weight.

I'd then short change the next interval at around 2000. Then use a more normal change interval like 3000-4000 if on dino.

I bet your oil isn't THAT bad at 10k. It's the fact that you've been running that FILTER for 10k that concerns me.

guys the 3k change is BS. With engines these days and mobile synthetic, 22 bucks at walmart, you can easily go 5-6k between changes. Remember how oil companies are turning super high profits, wonder why?? lol Fully synthetic is incredible at keeping its molecular integrity. any chemist will tell you that 3k is way too soon

I run amsoil 0w-30 and a aeo13 filter. the amsoil guy told me that the filter and oil are good for one year and 25k might of been 35k not sure but me and my brother do my G and his Maxima every 6 months oil and filter just to be on the safe side. Matter of fact we just did ours and I only had about 4.5 k after 6 months. The amsoil rep also told me that if there is ever a engine failure and its under warrenty to get a little bit of oil and they will test it and help you fight the dealership if they try to deny trying to say it was an oil failure. The only thing you really need to do between a normal change is check the levels to make sure you dont have a consumption problem.

Wow, with our cars, most of us would have burnt up all of the oil after 5K miles!

Speaking of synthetic - I used Mobile 1 once (car had 15K) and it went thru 4 quarts in 3K miles. I was quite concerned. Then Infiniti did a consumption test with conventional oil and it only consumed 1 quart in 3K miles. Is it possible our engines can have the oil consumtion problem aggrivated y Synthetic???

no, in fact conventional oil breaks down quicker meaning the viscosity becomes more watery, that's when oil starts to either burn off or leak. that's when the consumption problem begins. I think it was a hit and miss with the oil consumption problem. My car doesn't burn oil at all. I change oil roughly between 6-7k with mobile one syn . and mobile one oil filter m110 which is the size for the v8 engine but works on the g. Remember if you live in a warmer climate like wast coast or fl where it never snows, use 10w-30 which is a little thicker than what infiniti recommends 5-30. this should help with oil consumption
