G35x break-in period

I just picked up a 2004 G35 AWD with the premium package. I am very happy with my purchase and I want to do things right. The car has 286 miles on it and I was looking for advise on the proper brakein period and process.

Thanks

Re: G35x break-in period

This topic has been discussed ad-nauseum in several previous threads. Everyone has their own opinions (It's like, you say "tomahhhto, I say tomayyyto"). I presume you have read the owner's manual. My preference is to follow the instruction manual - don't rev over 4000 rpm until 1400 miles, then let 'er rip. Of course, during my course of reading all the fodder about this topic, I surfed a site that detailed how babying a 4-cycle engine during the break-in period is actually BAD for the piston head/seals/etc.. He was talking mostly about motorcycle engines, however. Additonally, there are other things affected during the break-in period that you have to take into account such as the transmission which has nothing to do with the pistons.

In short, I figure that the manufacturer is not going to ask you do something that will ruin your engine (at least I hope not).

Enjoy your G35X, you'll love it.
