New mod and a question

My car had the ghastly gold trim on it so I decided to debadge, and black out the car. I sprayed the grill today and I'm waiting on my new chrome Mt Fuji, but I thought this actually looked pretty good as well

My next thing is that my headlights have some sort of damage to the plastic, it looks like they were cleaned with something that left streaks. Hard to describe.

I have used every cleaner/polisher in the world on them and I can make them clear as day, but they still have these streaks which actually affect my lights
look in the upper left of the housing to see what I mean. Has anyone here tried wetsanding and do you think it would help with this issue?

have you tried meguiar's plastx? I wouldn't wet sand them unless you know what your doing. Your going to need a buffer to get the haze out from the sanding, but then again if you had a buffer you wouldn't need to sand them anyways... Can you tell if it's on the inside? It could be damage from using aftermarket bulbs.

It was as if this was made for your car...

I have sanded lights in the past and if you know what you are doing they will come out great, if you don't they will look like crap.

The Plastx didn't work for my headlights so I went to the local marine shop and got 210 plus and 210 polish. That cleans them up in about .5 seconds but you can still see the streaks as in the pictures above. I haven't wetsanded before so I'm kinda hesitant....

if you are going to wet sand here it is step by step. First use a good 2000 grit sand paper, add some dishwash soap to a bucket of water and sand in one direction. Once you are done sanding use a good plastic compound and then a good plastic polish. Compound with a finishing pad and polishing with a polishing pad. Look in the phone book for a plastics supply shop and they should have everythin but the buffer. Use light preassure and keep the pad moving. Once you are done with that finish up with a plastic cleaner, I recommend using all products from the same manufacture. I hope this helps.
