VDC is retarded

i was under the impression that by turning off this switch it would keep the brakes from engaging if the wheels begun to spin freely.....what a bunch of crap....i had the switch turned off and the brakes still engaged when the wheels broke loose....any ideas and deactivating this feature completely??

its not the abs engaging.....think about this...if you had a chevy trailblazer with abs and you romp on the pedal and the rear wheels spin....the brakes dont engage and pulse the brakes....abs stands for antilock braking....means the brakes dont lock up during a slide...any other ideas

I was always under the impression that VDC cuts your fuel when your tires break loose with it on

Your right, VDC cuts fuel but also applies the brakes.

VDC and TCS are seperate units, one which cuts power, and one that applies the brakes. To fully deactivate the system, you have to pull the brake fuse.

Pulling the fuse disables the VDC & ABS. Trust me, you don't want to drive around like that. I have tried it, and its potentially dangerous if you don't know how to react to certain situations.

Switching the VDC to off works fine for me. And I drag race and powerslide this car all the time.

If you push on the brake the VDC will kick in, even if the VDC off is selected. The only option is to pull the fuse or put a switch on the brake signal to the BCM.

My VDC does not kick in when I step on the brakes. Until i hit that switch again, it is OFF.

I did, however, have this issue just once. My clutch decided to slip and slip and slip and it felt like the fuel was being cut-off. Not sure if it was a fluke or what it was. But, I swear it felt like the clutch just didn't hold.

It never happened again.

Turning VDC OFF lets my wheels spin like crazy with no braking at all.
