So, i was on my way home from work about 11p.m. last night. I was fastly approaching the car in front of me when i switched lanes to pass it up. Once i got passed it i noticed the car started to speed up like he wanted to race so i said **** it!!! i floored the gas and started to take off when i notice the other car just rocket pass me like i was stuck in first gear..when it passed i noticed it was a mazdaspeed 3 hatchback...are those damn things that freakin fast!!!!! it was bone stock..not even an exhaust...lets just say i didn't sleep well at all

I really dont want to use my vacation money to turbo my sedan but...it seems that i have no choice and getting my *** handed to me sealed the deal.

yeah, i heard there are a NUMBER of cars out there that we cant mess with. and the mazda speeds are one of them. those mazda 3s are pretty quick.

 

0 - 30 (sec): 2.3
0 - 45 (sec): 3.9
0 - 60 (sec): 5.9
0 - 75 (sec): 8.2
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 14.2 @ 100.1


Horsepower (hp @ rpm): 263 @ 5500
Torque (lb-ft @ rpm): 280 @ 3000

i raced one when i was living in ATL and I hung right next to it.

 

A tad bit obsessed about our speed here aren't we??? I'm just glad I can merge onto the highway after owning a 92 Volvo sedan (Hp = 114 max) with 250,000 miles.... 0 - 60 in 13 seconds, 1/4 mile in four days!!! Maybe someday I can fret about being whipped by a Mazda, when I learn to drive faster than 57mph.

the new MS3s are definitely quick. I see the same one on my way home from work every morning (work nightshift).

Haven't raced it I'm usually in my Maxima, but I have thought about it several times just to see how the old Max fares against one.

0-60 - 5.6, 1/4 in 14.2 @ 100. Not bad at all, looks good too, IMO.

I kept up with an S550, we went to about 120 for about a mile and then a red light came up. The guy rolled down his window and was like "Damn, that thing is quick, I was expecting to lose you!" it made my day

 

Yeah, i'm thinking maybe this dude turned up the boost or something cuz it was downright sad how fast he blew by me...all i have is a coupe middy, spacer and k/n drop in...

anyone with a mazdaspeed that wants to race must have definately done some work to the car. I don't think it would whip u that bad in stock form. I don't have much respect for mazda since they dropped the rx7. the mazda speed 6 is supposed to be a beast from what i hear.. awd /turbo

 

Those MazdaSpeed3's are fast. On the freeway they can pick up speed very well. There is one that lives down the street from me and we race around from time to time. It would have taken my G (pre-boost) easy.
