First time poster, long time lurker. Great website. So I bought a 2005 g35 6mt sedan black on black in April of this year. Love the car (except for the annoying rattle coming from my passenger side window). So I was driving down the street the other day when all the sudden the radio turned off. I went to turn it back on and nothing happened. I was able to turn it back on using the radio controls on the steering wheel. When I turned it back on the display was frozen and I couldnt use any of the in dash controls for the radio. However I could use the steering wheel controls to change the mode, channel, and volume but like I said the display stayed the same. About 5 min later when I got home I turned off the car and waited about an hour to turn it back on. When I turned it back on it worked fine. Its been about a week now and it still works fine. Does any one here know what might of happened and should I take it in since it is under warrenty (until March 2009 or another 35k miles)? As a side note, the moment it turned off was when I passed a cop who was using his radar gun. Not sure if that could of effected the radio that much or not. Thanks in advanced for the help. I don't think that the radar gun had anything to do with it. I would take it in to the dealer, and have them fix the window as well.

Its the stereo. Take it into the dealer

It is the printed circuit board that controls the audio unit and the climate control. It goes into fail safe when it stops working therefore leaving it stuck.

Same thing was happening to me in the past. I haven't seen it come back up for months now. I'll go aftermarket once it goes south on me for good.

 

it’s a common problem… just have your dealer fix it and the rattle as well

 

just started happening on my 03.5

it comes and goes, but hasnt been back for like three weeks
