Resetting tire pressure

Hi, I recently got tires replaced on my G35X at Costco. At that time the service guy said if I come back the manager can reset the tire pressure system. When I went back I was told that Costco can't reset the tire pressure on infinitis made from 2004 onwards. They said only infiniti service shops can reset it. Is this true?

One dealer quoted me $103 and another quoted me $90. I guess they charge an hourly rate. This is unbelievable. I can't imagien costco wouldn't tell me this before hand. I could have gotten the tires from the dealer itself and saved $100 on this tire pressure reset thing.

Anybody has any ideas where else I can get this done for a cheaper price.

Thanks.

Why would you have to reset the tire pressure system (I don't have it, just wondering). Do any of your tires have low pressure? How about if you just unplug the negative battery cable overnight, maybe it'll reset.

Only takes about 20-25 mins at the most to reset the tire sensors. Had mine done last week and the dealer whacked me for a 1/2 of labor or $50.

Hi, yeah, the TPS light turns on for a second when I start the car. I tried getting some air into the tires and that didn't help. I think I will talk to the service manager.

Thanks.

the light turns on and stays on? You shouldnt need to reset the TPS after getting new tires.. This is a stupid question but did you check the tire pressure in all the tires to make sure their right? It takes just one of the 4 to turn on the light. Hopefully costco didnt break any of them when fitting on the new tires.

Hi, yes I got air into all 4 tires. I didn't know that the TP doesn't need to be reset when we get new tires. I just took the word of the costco service person who said come back to get the TP reset. I actually took it to the dealer one time for service after that and he said "set the TP to a real high number like 35". I think I will fork over the $$ to see if everything working right or not.

yea..either they didn't put enough air in those tires, or they broke your TPMS sensors when dismounting/installing new tires because those things are easy to break
