questions from a potential '04 owner
questions from a potential '04 owner
I am interested in buying an 04 Sedan from a small lot dealership.
The Infiniti warranty is good for about another 7 months, but I'd like to make sure there are no potential major issues with the car. Will an Infiniti dealership inspect the car, even if I didn't buy it there? I'm going to finance the car through my credit union, and I might get the mechanical breakdown insurance just for peace of mind.
Also, I'm not a big fan of the rims. I want to keep the car stock, but I'd like to have the sport package rims. I called a dealership to see how much it would be to order them. I knew it would be the expensive route, but they said it would be at least $1k per rim! I checked on eBay, and saw these. Do those look legit? I'd appreciate any advice.

1K per rim wtf... look on here you can buy a set of the coupe sport 19's for $900-1100 look in the marketplace

Yes the dealership will inspect your car before you buy it, whether or not you bought it from them. However, expect to pay $60-100 for them to check it out. In my opinion, its money well spent. While you're there they can also pull up all the service records on the vehicle to show you what work has been done to it under warranty / at a dealership.
Wheels: Those wheels on Ebay dont look bad but are $500 + $360 in shipping... ouch. I would look at a set of coupe 18" or 19" wheels here on the boards for that price.
Best of luck.

if you have 7 months of factory warranty left, don't see a reason why infiniti wouldn't do a check-up on your car through warranty (which is if you bought the vehicle and took to the dealer). Also, what rims do you have? aftermarket? and isn't the wheels from ebay $495.00 + $89.00 shipping? if it is, they actually look pretty nice!
Yes, Infiniti will inspect the car no problem, but they might charge you a service fee for their time. Do it.
We just purchased our 2003 G35 in June with 23K miles, but it was already out of factory warranty. I considered buying the mechanical insurance through our credit union, but decided against it. So far we've had no problems with it. It is one of the most reliable cars out there, so I doubt you'll need a warranty.
Those wheels on eBay are not OEM Nissan wheels. They say that they are "manufactured in a original equipment plant to original specification" and "This unique design was developed and patented by Morxchn Design Corporation exclusively for O.E. Wheel Distributors". Sounds like a good quality wheel, but its not OEM Nissan, just a copy.
Ours came with the stock 17-inch wheels. I just upgraded to the coupe Rays 19-inch wheels. Same pattern as the ones that you posted from eBay, but they are bigger and much lighter (forged aluminum). I got mine for $900 here in the marketplace from another member. You might be able to find a set with the stock tires already mounted, so that will save you some cash. I decided to go with different sizes, so I shelled out another $900 for new tires.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
