Headlights!!!!

I dont know if this has been posted before and if it has I'm sorry, but does anyone else have their headlights look like they are fogged up??? It looks like that crap is on the inside but its really on the outside or most of it is. I polish them with 3M platic polish everytime I wash the car but I'm getting sick of it!! What I really want is new ones but not the 04 lights.

dood if they are fogging up that probably means there is moisture getting inside the housing. I've had a bimmer and a lexus do it before. It's more common than people think. The water gets inside somehow and the heat from the lamps create condensation on the inside and sometimes outside. Verify if water is getting inside first.

I had this problem on my Volvo and the solution was simple and will also work on the G35. I removed one of the lamps (high-beam for example) and ran the car for about 1-2 days as usual (daytime driver) and the moisture dissipated completely. I would reinstall the the lamp and wallah-- no more fogging for about 6 months. No need to remove the entire assembly or anything. Of course, if you want to be creative, remove the bulb and blow air using one of the computer cleaning cans (Dust-OFF for example) that simply blow out dry air, to drive out the moisture. Job will likely take about 60-90 minutes since getting to the bulbs is not easy for everyone. Good Luck!

I agree, it sounds like a problem with the seal

parts department at dealership should have that right???? I have a buddy that works at infiniti dealership where I live and he said it was common for the headlights to get like that and they were getting a lot of complaints from G owners. I'll ask about the seal thing. Thanks. Hey Tim, how's the sand treating your ride out there???

It's inevitable but unlike in most other current cars, our headlights (as well as the coupe ones) seem to be most prone to yellowing and hazing. I think it's due to the nature of the plastic material (perhaps aged?) on the headlights. My driver side light doesn't get as much yellowing but my passenger side gets quite a bit. I use a combination of PlastX and Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish to remove the yellowing, and it'll stay clear for maybe 2 weeks at most.

What I did was to clean the headlights really good using PlastiX then I applied some 3M clear film to the headlight (available on eBay). This seemed to really slow down the hazing.

older vics are even worse than the g's for headlight yellowing, i used marine fibreglas polish, worked very well, basically, any fine polish and anti-oxidant film will help.

luckily i haven't noticed it yet on my 5 year old G.

What do you mean? Arizona is not like Africa. There is no sand around here.

Isnt Arizona mostly desert??? If I am not mistaken, our valleys are similar to each other but maybe we get more sand storms out here than you.

Haziness on my headlights have been there for a couple of years until today. I bought PlasticX and drill powerball a few weeks ago and finally got the chance to polished mine today. No excuse, just lazy. :-) But it looks great now, it'll be a routine for me now. It's extremely easy and it took only a few minutes to clear both.

Bro, I was born and raised in Tucson (southern AZ). Yes, Arizona is mostly desert. But I was stationed at 29 Palms for quite some time too. No comparison between the two. Sonoran Desert (AZ) is cactus and palo verdes and rocks...Palm Desert (CA) is sand and shrubs.

Speaking of the sand there, I accidently left the windows partly down on my Accord one time while visiting Palm Springs. Came out of the hotel the next morning and the entire interior of my car was covered in a fine layer of sand. What a sh*th0le.
