Fatal Collision

"g35spot" was killed in a traffic collision on 2/21/04 when he lost control of his G35 and struck a traffic signal pole in the rain. If you have any information which would be helpful in this investigation, please contact me or email me at jcherney@ci.irvine.ca.us

Thank you,

Re: Fatal Collision

aside from the fact that we are character witnesses to his being an outstanding, responsible man who loved his car; there isn't much we can add. But thanks for letting us know that Big Brother is watching.

Re: Fatal Collision

Perhaps he is doing his job in investigating the cause of a death. It's part of the job

What can deceased person be charged with. He ran into a light post as I understand it. Sometimes big brother is not working against you...

Re: Fatal Collision

I think the G35 can be s a little dicey in the rain particularly when there is standing water on the road and aggressive speeds are involved. The VDC brings you to a sudden, grinding halt on one side of the vehicle if it passes through extended or intermittent deep puddles.Kind of like how a Cat turns. The puddle side slows way down and causes veering in that direction. It is exaggerated the higher the speed.

Don't know if this is involved but I have had a lot of experience in the rain being from the Pacifc NW. I'm tired of rain.

Re: Fatal Collision

Irvine_Police, you will find no witnesses who saw the accident here on this board. You will also not find any Nissan Engineers to fully explain how VDC or other safety features truely work. Heck, I'm still trying to find out how to kill VDC totally. As 3point5SE_Auto explained earlier, you will get only character witnesses. Frank aka G35spot knew his way around cars and respected the power of the G35. His family's loss is our loss too. You will only find his friends and extended family here on this board. I hope you found what you needed.

Re: Fatal Collision

All cars are a little dicey in the rain when aggressive speeds are involved. I remember my brother tried whipping by someone in his IROC Camaro back in the mid nineties. He hit a big puddle and ended up wrapping his car around a utility pole

Maybe the police suspect speed as a factor but can't prove it and are looking for information about his aggressive driving tendencies here... just a thought.

Re: Fatal Collision

I have no information on the circumstances of the accident nor did I mean to infer driver performance was the issue here. Merely commenting on the G's behavior with a particular set of road conditions. It really drags you to a halt if you are fording through puddles. It surprised me the first few times I ran into the situation.

How can you say what everybody on this board witnessed or knows?

Re: Fatal Collision

Hey Guys,

No one on this board knows what happened, we were not there. So please leave out the speculations, it hurts rather than helps the investigation and especially hurts the family. I should know. And as such I support the Irvine PD for trying to find out as much as they can to help bring some measure of closure to the family.
Thanks for understanding, take care and drive safely.

Andrew, We Miss and Love You! Peace!
