Re: rear brake

Take advantage of the dealer offered 36K or 3 year (which ever comes first) brake warranty.

Ive had my front brakes and rotors replaced so far. Going in next week to get my rear brakes and rotors replaced. All covered under the warranty.

See your local dealer
Good luck

Re: rear brake

the 3/36k brake warranty is a very, very nice addition. before the warranty came out though, there was this new rear brake kit that dealers installed for people like me (who complained of rear brake squealing). i'm not sure what made the kit different from what already came on the car, but it sure got rid of the squeal. have fun with your brakes for the next 3 years or 36k miles.

Re: rear brake

.g35girl., so the squeal has stayed away since the service, how long has that been now, mile wise? Or just wise.

Re: rear brake

ABQ_wisetom... hmm, i had the service done 2 oil changes ago. so that would be around or a little over 6k miles (about 6 months)? a couple of weeks after the service, i received my brake warranty letter.

Re: rear brake

i wish warranty is like "36k or 3 years, whichever comes LAST"... I have the cars for 4 months.. only 1800 miles. With that rate, I probably will drive only 15-18k after the first 3 years !!! I think I'm screwed.

Re: rear brake

You should be able to get one brake job in there.. they do wear out pretty early. Anywhere between 12k and 20k for many people. (Just brake harder! )

Re: rear brake

G35girl is right. We have the same problem with ours. They replaced both front and rear pads and rotors. The service technician told me that they use a new kind of break pad for the rear break and new front break assembly. So far the squealing had stopped. We also like the fact that the break is not as grabby as the old ones.

Re: rear brake

They went to slightly a harder pad compound (still super dusty) and added a second shim between the caliper and the pad.

Re: rear brake

I have 22K on my sedan I guess i don't brake mine much as I was told last week when I did tire rotation that I had 30% in front and about 50% in back still left.
I am assuming that is way above what everyone gets.
Can I still take it in get them and changed or they should be around 10% or less to get this warranty service done.

The belt pulley for the fan (next to the coolant reservoir) is making the squeaky noise first time you start every morning I was thinking to get everything done in one go.

mfung... i'm with you!

iafazal... not sure if your service guy would do that. my impression was if they needed replacement, then they'd do it under warranty. doesn't hurt to ask though. try, try, try... and let us know how it goes.

Re: rear brake

I got 32K out of my first set of fronts. The backs are still original and looking good at 36K miles. The 6MT makes a big difference in brake wear from what I have seen on other post.
