Hello all,

I ordered a G35 6MT on Valentine's Day, and I've been lurking around here since before then. I noticed something interesting on the Infiniti website today - if you look at the page for G35 options & accessories, they list the sport-tuned suspension package as including 215/55R17 W-rated high-performance Michelin tires. Now, the sedans I test drove had Goodyear Eagle GS-Ds on them, and AFAIK, that is the only summer-compound performance tire that exists in that size. Is the "Michelin" thing a typo, or has Infiniti changed suppliers for 2004? It would be great news if there are more tires becoming available in the stock size.

I think they are mistaken. AFAIK the 6MT Sedans only come with Eagle GSD's for summer tires. That's what I have and many have confirmed this as well. I've only heard of Michelin's being on the coupes. But if you wanted to you could get Michelin Pilot Sports in 235/50/17 for the sedan elsewhere.

All I can find is "215/55R17 W-rated high-performance summer-compound tires."

The sedan comes with either Goodyear Eagle GS-D, Eagle RS-A, or Bridgestone Turanza EL42.

The coupe has Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

Michelin doesn't make the Pilot Sport in 235/50R17, but they make the Pilot Sport A/S in that size. Bridgestone and Goodyear also offer good performance tires in 225/55R17. Poke around in the Tire & Wheels forum for tire choice info.

ryoken's right, Michelin doesn't make any tires in this size. It's an infiniti typo.

The Michelin website is right. It's Infiniti's website that has the inconspicuous error on it. How would our local Michelin dealer correct Infiniti's website? Inquiring minds want to know.... [img]/w3timages/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

 

What intrigued me was Michelin's spec sheet for the new Pilot Sport PS2. Apparently released on March 1 with 40 sizes, they also indicate that 35 more sizes will become available over the course of 2004. At present it's not available with an aspect ratio above 45, but maybe that will change? They do seem to have the 18-20" range pretty well covered already.
