Cup Holder Assembly Advice 2003 G35 Sedan

Mid December, I lucked into a fantastic Red 2003 G35 Sedan that was just repossessed from someone who could no longer afford the payments. From what I can tell, the car is loaded with just about every package that was offered: Premium, Leather, Winter, Wood, and, yes, even the Navigation Package. Although the car had nearly 79,000 miles I could not say no when a dealer in Manassas offered the car for $10,995. I had the car checked out at my local Infiniti dealer and the only thing needed was 2 rear tires.
Only problem was someone had stolen the cup holder insert that slips into the compartment behind the gear shift. The dealer tells me they don't sell just the insert and that I would have to buy the entire assembly which houses the cup holder. The surface is the brushed aluminum.
Does anyone know how easy it would be for me to purchase the assembly and install it myself? I'm not really very mechanical but I'd also rather not spend the $110 an hour that the dealer will charge me. I've also considered getting the assembly from a salvage dealer (even they won't sell the cup holder alone). Thanks to all. I love this site.

Welcome to the club, I am new here too... enjoy the car... with that being said, my brother had a pesky BMW which used to have the same problem, and it was fairly easy, with that said, I would recommend buying the part and trying it yourself, and if it does not work, you could always pay the dealer.

congrats.......I would change the ATF fluid, rear diff. fluid, air filter, in-cabin micro filter, drive belt, battery(if its original--trust me better to change it out before you need it b/c it is hard to do at night in the parking lot of autozone).

How are your brakes? It is very common to need new front rotors on these cars and switch to a ceramic pad for low dust.

wash it , wax it, and post some pics.

At the price you paid, putting in the right service items should not be a hardship......but you can prioritize........leave the rear diff. for last and spread it out over a years time or whatever.

congrats

PM jason@riverside for a price on the cup holder. He will give you a much better price than the dealer.

+1 on Jason. He might be able to get one for you.

Congrats on the car!!

One side note, your interior is the Titanium look, not brushed AL, that started with the 05's.

hey, welcome to the forum! You might also want to think about purchasing a center console from a wrecked car. salvage yards usually sell these parts for very little and since they are in the center of the car, they usually survive most mild to moderate accidents even if the car is declared "totaled" by the insurance company. I see that you're around the D.C. area, check out the National G Club in the "clubs and groups" section of the forum.

try a salvage yard... there could be 03-04s by now... and the cup holder surely would be in tact no matter how bad the accident was... I bet it wouldn’t be more than $5… that’s what I would do.

Just find a restaurant/s that sells drinks in sizes that fit without the insert. Problem solved.
