Sold the 05 for...

A 2008 G35XS has replaced my '05 G. My G had the front end clunk and the steering was getting very loose and wandered. With 80,000 miles and a front end that looked like the moon landscape I decided a light color would be better. It is a liquid platinum with the sport, premium and navigation packages along with the rear spoiler. I like it so far, but it is sooo much taller than my previous G.

I intended to get a 335 but I could not bring myself to spend about $52,000 for it. My plan is to get a 135 later this year ( we'll see...) for fun and to put on my 100+ daily miles on the G.

BTW, I am not doing a single mod outside of window tint, hardwiring my V1 and sticking the iPass to the windshield. Infiniti continues to impress me and it is certainly the best bargain on wheels.

I have an 05 "X" with 64000 miles on her. I intend to keep it another year, should be close to 100K miles then. I have been looking at all the competition for our car and if I was to buy today I would do exactly what you did. i cannot see myself giving my money to another brand when I am so satisfied with the G.

Good Luck with the new ride. I'll believe the "no mods" comment when I see it!

It was originally diagnosed as end-link failure. They were replaced and I had the same noise. Then the compression rods were the source. They were replaced and the noise continued. Then the tech said it could be the front knuckles. I gave up at that point.

My noise/clink was most noticeable at speeds less than 35mph. However, it would still clunk at highway speeds. I could feel the clunk in the floor boards and it got progressively worse. Your clunk may very well be the compression rods.

What did you get for your trade-in if you don't mind me asking - I'm pushing 80k and thinking of trading in also, but hate the thought of how the dealer is going to RAPE me over being such a new vehicle with high miles.

How was your tranny at 80k? Mine has 48K and is notchier than my 86 300zx 5 speed with 160k. This kind of pisses me off as it has gotten worse and worse and now I am thinking this will be my last nissan.

Nissan does not have the best trannys. They are great for holding power but seem to have issues. I'm on #2.

Raped is a good analogy. In my case it is a company car and it doesn't effect me personally. However, I got $12,000. Bear in mind that that the front bumper and hood were in bad shape from the winter rock salt, the rear bumper had a slight crease from two people rolling into me (ssperate incidents) at traffic lights and the right rear quarter panel was pushed in behind the wheel due to me sliding into our cleaning ladies car (icy driveway, sharp turn and brain fart ).

I also had a 300ZX (1984 Z31 Turbo for about the same mileage). I loved that car. It took me all over this grand country. As for the transmission, it was fine. On cold days it was notchy, but ounce it warmed up all was good. Well, i shouldn't say that with absolute certainity. I would get an occaisional bite from 1 to 2. I drive rather hard, the car held up well - but I am a stickler for maintenance.

I'll try to get some - it's about 10 degrees (I'm sure you're colder) here and I hate winter!

It's dirty though...

The tint and clear bra are on and I can't wash it for another couple days.
