Car Issues Issues Issues
This car is such a head ache, i dont think I will ever get a infiniti or g35x again. I have a 04. Took it in to service because they finally could duplicate the right rear window sound. It says on receipt - TSB ITB03-071. That is the one when they put felt cloth tape up in the weatherstripping top of window. Well I got the car back and nothing was fixed. Still hear the creak sound going over bumps, rough roads and stop and go something. Now I hear a new noise coming from that same area, it sounds like a wurling metal slightly sound in that same right rear window area all of sudden. Also said i need new front brakes and hardware, car only has 41k miles on it. Brakes go that bad so quick? Do you think I only need pads? Also said my transmission fluid is dirty, so needs to be flushed.
Go back to the dealer and tell them you still hear the same problem on the rear window. Make sure they get it fixed for you at no extra charge, and also let the manager of the service dept know about this as well.
As far as the brakes go, yes unfortunately they do go out that quickly in the '03-'04 sedan. I got tired of the dusty stock brake pads on the front, and replaced them with Hawk HPS pads, and it's been low dust and strong braking ever since. If you've never had the tranny fluid drained or flushed, then yes it's definitely time to get it done. The tranny fluid service should be done every 2 years or 30K miles, whichever comes first.

The thing here guys is to maintain the viability of your warranty. By spending the cash and letting the dealer do it, there is NO QUESTION when it comes to warranty work because THEY DID IT.
This car needs maintaintance, it is NOT a damn Ford Fairlane 500 that you can just throw a can of oil into now and then. You bought an "up market" car, be prepared to pay a little more to take care of it.
I have followed the manufacturers recommendations for service and I have 63K on mine now with NO malfunctions what so ever.

First thing, are you sure they didn't do the work? The problem with 1st gen G35 is that they cut corners with the interior. It's frustrating, but it's clear they focused on the performance and not so much the interior quality. I have done lots of work with my car quieting rattles and I can tell you that many of the TSB rattles don't come from the areas they're fixing hence the reason people still have the same rattles after the fixes. With the doors, a lot of rattles come from where the plastic panel meets the metal door frame. You'll also notice that rattles are largely dependent on weather/temp/humidity. Check my rattle exocism DIY for some easy fixes.
As for the brakes, you're lucky yours lasted as long as they did. These cars typically require new front pads and rotors every 30K miles. That's the trade off for having exceptional braking and feel. BMW and Benz are the same way. You can save yourself a large sum of money doing this simply job yourself.
For tranny service, the Infiniti recommended first service interval is 60K miles unless you do towing.

The creak sound in the rear window is the window regulator bolts. There is a recall/bulletin to fix that. They will replace them with different bolts and they will go away. The Bulletin is Infiniti TSB ITB05-034.
Give them that #. Mine drove me nuts and then it was gone after this repair.
Oh and get Hawk HPS pads as your replacements when you do the brakes.

41k is a decent amount of time for the oem brakes to last. It's a sports sedan and they tried to make it perform. The problem is the 03/04 rotors are too small so they had to use a very aggressive pad to get the braking they wanted. The pads wear out and eat the rotors quickly.
