My experience with the G35 foggy headlights issue has made me one very dissatisfied Infiniti customer:

- first the dealer wanted to deny there was any issue
- then they told me that it was an oil and it needed to be "rubbed" clean
- then they quoted a replacement cost of $425 each

Well, replacing them is not easy, but through PartsTrain and help from a buddy, it's done.

Thought I would post these pics to show what Infiniti quality looks like. Pretty sad that you can pay $38K for a car and the dealer wipes themselves clean from obviously faulty parts.

 

bumper-to-bumper warranty doesn't work?

 

Why did you lift the car up? You didn't need to do all that for removing headlights.

 

I was wondering that myself. Perhaps, the OP did some other work, as well.

 

Umm did you try using Meguiars Plastix. Many have used with very good results.

 

Meguiars Plastix is good stuff but can only do so much. Other alternatives are wet sanding and polishing which takes a few hours of work to get it right.

Looks like you bought some ebay lights to replace the OEMs?

And yeah, you went overkill on the headlight removal if that's all you did. You don't even need to fully remove the bumper....just drop it upfront.

 

That is definitely one foggy headlamp but IMO you don't need to go thru all the trouble and cash to get a replacement. A little TLC on the headlight should do wonders (i.e. Meguiar's PlastX, wetsand, rubbing compound, etc.)

 

I don't know about the OP but one of my headlights is getting cloudy from the INSIDE. Sucks

 

I appreciate the insights on the bumper removal -- believe me, I am no mechanic and I was just glad it went back on and I didn't have any extra screws left over. Probably should have posted for some advice before I got going on it.

As for the creams and all, this fogging is not external. It is from the inside. I argued with the dealer on my warranty and they said that this was not covered. I talked to Infiniti national customer service and they said the same thing. They were big enough to offer me the service labor at 50% of regular rate -- now that's real big of them.

As for the internet replacement parts -- absolutely. What good does it do to get OEM parts when they won't even stand behind their poor quality?!?

I have definitely been "elevated beyond" through this whole experience!

 

Lincoln replaced my moms headlights on her LS 2 weeks before her warranty was up b/c the were clouding on the inside I am suprised at infiniti

 

some people on here would pay to have their headlight smoked/fogged up like yours. lol people got some wierd taste. But back to topic, yes infiniti dealers are really shiity. but its capitalism, what can we do? any after pics of the headlights?

 

go to headlightsolutions.net, i have an 03 and my headlights were not as bad as yours, but the outer sides were pretty dense already and i bought the kit from this company and restored it to almost brand new condition....

 

Here is a "wink" with one good eye and one bad eye, and then my G after it's lazik surgery

 

I got mine replaced under warranty.

 

my 03 coupe's headlights do this but i wax and compound them to a nerw shine... it only last about 3 months and they start to fog up again.
