g35 vs fx
Hi all, I know this is a strange question but, how good is the fx compared to the g35? I've had my mind set on the g35 sedan, but now it seems due to some issues at work, I might have to consider the fx. I may have to haul some suitcases once in a while, and it def wont fit in the g35. Does the fx perform anywhere as well as the g35? acceleration, handling, comfort, road noise? I kind of like the interior of the fx atleast compared to the current g35 interior, so I dont mind that. I was excited about having the smooth acceleration of the g35, I was curious how that compares to either of the fx engines. Any feedback comparing the two cars would be greatly appreciated. In particular, please give me some good reasons I should not feel AS bad as I do about the possibility of settling with the fx as opposed to the g. Thanks alot.

Re: g35 vs fx
A lot of people refer to the FX as a G sedan that rides higher up.
I drove an FX35 loaner for two weeks, and I really enjoyed it. The 0-60 numbers are not quite on par with a G, but it performs great, rides nice, has a nice interior and a great exhaust note.
I may end up getting one as a second new vehicle.
You can't go wrong either way.

wataru210... it's definitely not settling. for an SUV it accelerates pretty fast. handling would improve if you got the sport package. road noise, i found to be just a little bit noisier with the 20" wheels. i don't think the interior is as nice as the G, but it's still nice. if you get the FX, get at least the sport package. if you get the G, get at least the premium package. heh, or like the others have said, get both. good luck with your choice!

Re: g35 vs fx
hi,
thanks for your reply. so youre saying that though 20inch wheels give a rougher ride, the improved handling makes it worthwhile? i do go on some road trips occasionally, so i would prefer as soft and smooth a ride as possible. some people say that the 20inch wheels completes the fx... and i agree.. yet i dont want to be overwhelmed with bumps and road noise when i go on long trips.. any opinions? thanks!

wataru210... i found it to be rougher/noisier than the G, but it's not as rough/noisey like you'd expect from a typical SUV. i had an FX loaner for a weekend with smaller wheels and test drove an FX with 20". loved the loaner, but liked the look of the 20" much better. during my test drive with the 20" and sport pack, the salesman made me turn down this road to avoid traffic, and unknown to him, it was covered with small divots, cracks, and rough spots (like minor road damage caused by repeated snows). i could feel every crack and hole in that road and the noise was pretty noticeable. after i had mentioned it, he said, "yeah those 20s give you a real feel for the road, don't they?" i don't know if it was the 20s or not, but it was a lot rougher/noisier than i expected. but if i were to get an FX, i'd still go for the 20". Ride is kinda bumpy..but, you wont even notice it coz you'll be driving it like it's a car...which basically, it is.....Trust me you won't regret getting the FX....

Re: g35 vs fx
Had an FX35 loaner for a couple days and really liked it. BoneDaddy is right about the exhaust note. Very sweet. Tire noise was greater and ride a tad rougher (18") but not bad at all. FX has a few more doo dads as well (telescoping wheel, trip computer, etc). Although it is car like I still had the old SUV feeling where you run over stuff vs trying to avoid it. Wish I had both.
