exhaust questions
exhaust questions
Hey I've read up on a few thread on exhausts and I'm planning to get one myself, but I still have really no idea which exhaust is really on the market besides the Stillen and the Borla. What are some of the other ones? And which one is the most preferred once [either to performance or quality]
Re: exhaust questions
Greddy and HKS make a Y-pipe back system (not a cat-back despite the label). But for not much more you can have the Borla which in addition to being a true dual vs a single pipe system, it replace's the oem Y-pipe, which is terribly restrictive. I'll argue that the stillen is the best in terms of power, but it's also much more expensive. No matter what both the Stillen or the Borla stand to make nice power gains, since the oem sedan system is less effecient than the Coupe's oem exhaust. Injen was supposed to come out with a system for the sedan the same time as the Borla and the Stillen. But, their a no show since the others two came out awhile ago.

Re: exhaust questions
If you look under you car you will see the two cats and then a y-pipe connecting to those cats. The difference between the cat back systems and the y-pipe back systems is that the cat back systems replaces everything from the muffler up to the cats. The y-pipe back systems only replaces everything from the muffler up to the y-pipe. If your going to get a whole exhaust system I would definitely suggest getting a cat back system since like GSedan said the stock Y-pipe is the most restrictive part on the sedan exhaust system. Another alternative if you want to spend less money, not make as much noise, and still get decent performance gains is by getting an aftermarket Y-pipe and to replace the stock mid-pipe resonator with a straight through resonator like a Magnaflow 10436. Going this route probably won't give you as much gains as a true dual system like Stillen or Borla though but still will yield decent gains.

Re: exhaust questions
Total cost of that is prob under 500. Wonder what the gains are for just the Y pipe and resonater replacement?
