Just wanted to give a quick run down during my first track day this year today at Miller Motorsports track here in Utah, 12 turns, 2.06 miles long (the main track is split up into 2 tracks in this set up). FIRST, it was a ridiculously awesome time, meeting people who love cars as much as you do, with a whole range of backgrounds, experience, types of cars, etc. . .with my aftermarket suspension mods, sway bars, end links, tires, rims, strut bar, and few mods to the intake and exhaust, the car handled GREAT. . .given that fact i'm still learning how to track the car, i fealt very much in control the whole time, without that much fear of massive oversteer and my rear losing traction on me. . .though i had plenty of close calls, but hey, thats what you do on a track, find your limits. What i reallly really need to change is my brakes. . .30,000 miles on my current stock pads and rotors didn't perform very well, but that was expected. . .my powerslot rotors, carbotech pads and SS brake lines and DOT 4 fluid will be installed in a few weeks so i'm not worried. . .

So what i realized was, i always though that the G was pretty quick even NA. . .well, when you're on a track, and you got a porsche 911 gt3, BMW m6, 911 RS GT3, modified audi s4 with some huge turbos, modified Subaru Sti, modified saleen mustang, and other beasts driving with you on the track. . .you relaly really realize how slow you are compared! of course its also depends on teh driver's skill level, but man, i wish i had more power! though, i'll manage with waht i got and learn how to control it for now. . . on another note, meeting other people at the track you can get sooo many hookups. . .one dude pre-ordered the new GTR and is picking it up in August. . .he offered to let me ride in it when he takes it to the track. . .MONEY!!!! anyways, i would definitley premote anyone and everyone to track your ride, even in stock form, for the experience, the people, the possible hook ups, and you learn alot about what you and your car can/can't do. Plus, there's always something going on there, like today, BMW Formula was there on the other track scouting drivers in BMW Formula cars, cool stuff! OH, and the Falken FK-452s actually i think performed great. Best bang for your buck i think for performance. GO SPEED RACER GO!!

 

That's tight. Sounded fun for you. I'll see if I can in Japan. I've raced on the streets there, but haven't been to a real track before. It would be nice to get some hookups in the JDM land

 

Sounds great man! I've always wanted to get my car out but for some reason it has not happened yet. Hopefull this summer I can get out for a few runs.

i'd be down to join other fellow G's in cali, espcially since there's so few out here in utah, and even fewer who actually track their ride! how much is it over there to track? and what tracks?

 

You're right about the experience level. I saw something funny at a driving course at the Rockingham, NC track a few years ago. They had a curve-heavy infield then you hit one of the extremely high banked curves at around 90 mph.

A little 16 year old girl in a Suzuki Samauri would get passed by everyone on the banked curves, then pass half of the pack on the infield. She'd taken the driver's course 4 times previously.
