Intelligent Key went for a wash cycle :)

Hey Fellas,
I was in a hurry and loaded my dirty laundry into the washer not knowing my key is still in my jean pocket. After the wash cycle, I pull out the clothes and the thing drops in front of my face as I took the last few pieces!

So I take it apart and let it dry out in the hot sun for an hour. I popped a new battery on, replace the cover and the cars alarm started going went off!!!

So what do you guys think of the chances that I can still fix this?

...

I have the same thinking...but you know inside it is full of small electronics that are not meant to be soaked in water.

Anyhow, I have let it dry for longer and tried it again. I popped the battery back in and no sound from the car. Must be dead completely now. But wait...I tried to lock it and I heard the horn!!! Now, question is, how long would it last since the components may have been compromised?

not sure what u call it over there but take it apart and spray the board with some contact cleaner or WD40 to prevent corrosion. If you apply it quickly enough u might jst have a chance. We use it to save water damaged mobile phones.

I have WD40, you think it will work also like a contact cleaner?

Wouldn't it short circuit anything?

I hope mine works longer as I don 't want to spend 300 bucks on a replacement from the dealer.

I suppose I could get a remote w/o the key and just have the dealer program it.

You can get a remote off of ebay for like 25-30 bucks and program it yourself.

Yeah, been looking at Ebay. I have only found one so far and is used for
40bucks. I'm going to wait for a new one with a good price...
