Our rear gears in automatics are about 3.3/1 and in the manual trannies are 3.5/1.

[I read the thread about the killer posi unit Quaife is considering developing for our "G" Machines - maybe that, stuffed with taller gears (say, a 2.30-2.40 final drive instead of the 2.80 we have) would make my RPM/Gas Mileage/Unnecessary Wear concerns disappear (and some of my gas money reappear!).

This is just IMHO - what's yours ??

This car with a 2.30 final drive would have very poor response down low in return for low rpms at highway speeds and very good highway mileage. I heard the G has like a 3.50 final drive and as far as I'm concerned the higher the number the better. I bought the car for response not gas mileage.

I think he was referring to the overall gearing. I'm guessing about a 0.78 OD gear ratio, so 3.54(MT rear gear) x 0.78(6 gear ratio)= 2.73
