Heated side mirrors - HOW DO YOU TURN IT ON?

Ok, really stupid question, I've looked up and down my car controls and can't seem to find it. On the specifications it says that the side view mirrors are heated but I can't even find it in the manual or a button to turn them on.

Do they come on with I hit the defrost button?

What am I missing here?!

How do I turn on the heater in the mirrors?! HELP!

yes, most cars I've owned had this linked to the rear defroster. so I assume that's the case here.

edit: d'oh! beat to the punch.

Hahahaha, I live in Canada and it was an issue last night when I washed my car and went for a drive then drove into my heated underground garage all my windows fogged up including my mirrors.

I was getting this problem the entirety of winter and finally gave up and asked.

The Acura TL and Honda Civic that I used to drive had an actual button beside the auto mirror controls that turned it on and off so I was always looking for a button of some sort.

Thanks for all the help folks!

The heated mirror element will work when any part of your heating system is turned on.

Is it a male pride thing or people just don't like to read? It couldn't be, because they're reading and posting here. Maybe it's just me but the first thing I do with any new piece of equipment is read the owners manual. If someone had the time to scroll through all the posts on here and count how many Owners Manual questions are asked here we would all probably be surprised. Not picking any fights, I just thought that purchasing a car you desire to have would prompt you to get fully accquainted with it, within your mechanical limits of course. Just read the book people, lots of hhhmmmm I didn't know that info is in there.

Really? Mine doesn't seem to work like that. I've had it blasting on 32 degrees (Celsius) during the winter and nothing happened to my side view mirrors whereas in my previous vehicles, the mirrors would actually steam when they were turned on and you can see the ice melt off of it right away.

You'd figure they'd put the defrost function part of the mirror in the actual section that talks about mirrors...rather than system controls. That's just my logic thinking though.

G35 6MT
From the 2004 G35 manual

And I quote from page 2-2: "9. Rear window and outside mirror (if so equipped) defogger switch"

I would hope that they figured out how to use them sometime in the past 10 years since the post was made
