M3 As Fast As I Thought

I was on my home from work and I passed a red M3 waiting to get in to traffic. I had a pretty good head start on him too. In Guam we have a few roads that you can get up some speed (even though the speed limit is 45mph). So I'm rolling and I see him way back there. I break out of traffic and I took off just to see what he would do. I got up to 100 and chilled. Then I see him jump out from around the cars and then it got ugly. Now I was going about 100 and he passed me like he was going 100 and I was going 50 or something. I dont street race and like I said there are a few roads that are straight and you can go. I beat down my boys IS300 there, bad. He has intake, headers, and HKS exhaust, no contest. I handled a 350Z and a black G coupe, yes I did. I am the only one here on Guam who has mods on a G. I have been readin you alls posts about M3s and never saw one in action. Now I understand what you all were talking about. I dont think I will mess with him again and its still just a bimmer.

That comment about its still just a bimmer was meant as a joke.

I had an M3 spank me really bad once. I was flooring it and

as it left me in the dust, owned!

Re: M3 As Fast As I Thought

I just had a experience with a buddys M3 that runs a performance shop. We both took the same exit and got to the light at the same time. He were like hmmm. I knew I would loose but hell wanted to see how bad. We both took off, Through my 1st gear we were pretty much even, after I shiofted to 2nd, he started to pull away, hit 3rd, and he was aobut 2 cars in front. DAMN!

I only went up to 100 so who knows what he was doing. Next time if there is no traffic I am going to punch it. I will lose but oh well. Only if there is no traffic though. I've seen the car around base. There are a few turbo Supras here, I wonder if they've raced yet.

It was back in 2000. But I wasn't in the service, I was on vacation visiting a relative in the AF. Had a lot of fun out there. Take care...

Re: M3 As Fast As I Thought

I had a quasi run with an M3 he had what appeared to be Dinan Exhaust. As I was coming up on him - mind you this was in the rain - he starts accelerating to a pace faster than mine -I was in 4M. I wasn't really tyring to challenge him, otherwise I could have gone down to third and let the Ztube/Stillen combo open up a bit to present more of a "temporary" challenge. Anyway he rolls off I keep a steady pace, traffic comes up two well planned moves - safe ones (it's raining afterall) and I leave him a quarter mile back. As I depart the cluster of traffic with him stuck in it, I flash the 70 or so LED's housed in my brake lights and rear spoiler. He must have seen more than the red in my tail-lights. Cuz he get's a round traffic I see the HID's coming up fast I'm still at a steady pace not really hitting it - with that much of lead I could have easily been out. But he catches up and swings around me I mean at like 110 - again in the rain - I have to give it to him - I guess he wanted me to see that M3's handle well (from what I saw really well) in the rain - you would have thought it was a sunny dry summer afternoon. I could tell he aftermarket rims at well - suppose they were 19's but appeared to have a wider offset in the rear.

The funny thing is traffic again slows his progress - I was again right behind - I execute the right lane changes got in front of him again. It's funny because it reminds of the story the Tortoise - me vs. the Hare - M3. All things equal you may get me on the straights but 9 time out of 10 you will fall prey if you throw traffic into the mix. Although, I now currently reside in South Florida with I-95 and the Turnpike. I am from the land of Hwy 101, 280, 880, 10, 405 & the 5. Some of you who travel those freeways often enough know what it takes to get through it -peace

Re: M3 As Fast As I Thought

We don't call it "The 5" in the Bay Area though

Actually, I live in the East Bay, and we refer to Interstate 5 as "The I-5 Test Facility".
