Differences between the 04' and 05' sedans? I've done some research

Hey everyone, I'm interested in getting myself an 04' or 05' G35 Sedan 6MT. I'm curious to knowing the differences between the two.

I've done a decent amount of research and this is what I've come up with.

05' has 18hp increase
05' has a 2 separate mesh areas on the front bumper while 04' has 1 horizontal line
05' premium model (base too?) has 18s while 04' has 17s
both 04' and 05' have a VLSD in the 6MT?

Things that I'm curious to knowing that I have not yet found are the following:

Does the 05' have more options in terms of aftermarket/copied aero eg. front lips, nismo side skirts etc.

What are the problems I should look for in both years. I'm leaning more towards the 05' because of the increase in power but if members of the board can give me good reason to get an 04' I would definitely research more into that.

Thanks in advance!

The only thing different with the 03-04 sedan is more aero kit available in the market (Nismo, Wald, Kurookie?, and some other).
Interior wise would be the dash console, more eye popping gauge cluster, titanium finish console, no tape player .
Rear end of the vehicle you get a push button to open the trunk, tail light is rounded with LED.
none of that two tone look with the 05-06.

If you can afford it, go for the 2005. It takes a full nismo aero kit to get rid of the unpainted lowers on the pre-05s(you can paint them, but the front bumper is not as nice as the aerokit, and the nismo side sills have a nice subtle flair, and the rear under spoiler-lower valence is sweet). I like the kit better than the stock painted 05-06, but at least you don't have to spend money there--an you can add a lip to the front bumper if you want a more aggressive look. The 05 has some interior improvements and such. Good luck and here is a thread on some problems.

If you want to list the more minor details besides the revup motor and other motor/tranny options... The 05 has different headlights, front bumper, the grille is shaped differently, as is the hood (which aslo has only one line going down the middle while the 04 has two) and possibly the fenders. The 05 sedan has new tails and reverse lamps, newer look "aluminum" inside, new navi programming, trunk button, bluetooth available with the atuo tranny, 6 disc changer, and I believe the brakes have been tweaked a bit, as has the suspension. The brake rotors are definitely different sized.

Just going to give you one piece of advice so you dont make the same stupid mistake as me.

Premium 04>Base 05.

You will miss the memory seats, dual climate control, reclining rear seats and all those fun things.

Oh yea, and the exhaust is slightly different... headers are different, not sure about the y-pipe, but the resonator is different and sounds nicer and flows better. And the muffler is slightly different along with the exhaust brackets for the muffler. Most, if not all aftermarket exhausts will accommodate the brackets for the older sedans.

As far as options go, all those Wannabe stated are part of the Premium package. It doesn't matter whether you get an 04 or 05, but it all only comes with the premium package.

modding

If you plan on modding for the most desired look (relative to the person), you would want to go with an 04 so you may install the aero/nismo kit. If you don't plan on doing this down the road, go with the 05! I personally am glad I ended up getting the 04 as I am getting an aero kit this week!

Thanks for all the input guys!

I definitely like the 04' better than the 05' because of the full nismo kit option. I really dislike the front bumper kits on the 05'. It looks decent with the OEM bumper and front lip (klumzyee's?).

I do like the rear tails on the 05' and the 3Dish cluster that is available.

What I've seen where I'm from, Canada, 05's go for 20gs with approximately 60k on them while the 04's go for 13-16gs with anywhere from 80-120k.

Too bad the 05's don't have a nicer front bumper like the nismo one.

I'm still contemplating on which one to go for. I guess it comes down to what deals are on the table when it comes to the time to buy.

PS: I'd definitely get the PREM package

the 05's bumpers look similiar to the nismo 04 ones. i dont know about you but to me its very similiar. i went with a 05 cause i got a decent price and lower miles. 05's seem to go higher then 04's

The 05-06 might have more HP but it makes the same torque as 03s-04s which is what matters.

So you're saying a Turbo Diesel truck is king then right?

no, he's saying that the torque rating is the same for 03s and 05s.

I've seen lots of 05 Sedan with less than 50k miles go for between 20k and 25k, but I guess that's because I'm in the States, no pun intended. I am one who doesn't blame Canada .
