Another door rattle post

Took the G to Infiniti of South Atlanta for regular maint. and check passenger side door rattle (second time for this). They took the door panel off and checked everything but said they couldn't find the cause. I listened to the rattle all the way to work this morning. I guess I'll have to look at it myself. It seems to come from the upper part of the door panel back where it meets the pillar ..they said my car vin was after the TSB for the door rattle so they didn't put any felt tape cushioning..whatever

Re: Another door rattle post

I have a 2004.5 Sedan and noticed bad rattles in both front driver and passenger doors caused by the bass vibrations when the stereo is turned up. My Infiniiti dealer installed the felt tape from the the bulletin, but this did not solve my problem. The rattles are so obvious in their location, in the same are as mentioned in Frag's post...upper corner of door panel where it meeets the pillar. Now, I have the felt tape, but the rattles are still there, and I didn't want them to take apart the door panels to look for something they probably won't find.

I know the deep bass can make things rattle a bit, but it doesn't seem right that Infiniti can't figure out a way to fix 2 obvious rattles which come from the 2 front doors, but NOT the 2 rear doors when the music is turned up loud. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this? Thanks.

This and this

Cured just about, no, wait... cured ALL of my door rattle issues. Now I have a clicking driver's seat and a rattling passenger seat as well as a rattling rear view mirror. At some point I'll be applying more generous amounts of weatherstripping to some choice areas to fix those too. I also used this method to fix some roof liner rattles where it touches the windshield.

Hope that helps.

....Be prepared for a long rattle-curing journey

You know you'll save yourself a lot of time and hassle if you just do it yourself. I've never had a good rattle-resolution from any dealer with any car... If you want something done right etc etc... Hell my seat clicks when I sit in it yet the dealer can't hear it. This will take you 30 minutes each side and you'll be able to rattle-proof your door completely, not just fix the rattles that you're hearing at the moment.

I agree with you on this doogie, it is best to try and find them yourself, unless it's something large, because most people can't hear the rattles like we can since we drive it every day, I too have never had a car that didn't have some slightly irritating rattle, lot's of times they are caused by temperature, and just the nature of a car!
