I've been researching the g35x sedan...but am comming up with different numbers for invoice. Edmunds says invoice is 29343. KBB says its 28887 (29477 with destination). The dealer shows his invoice is about $400 higher than edmunds. Who is right? Is there a $150 price increase that Edmunds isn't taking into account? And why is kbb so much lower?

Thanks in advance for any help. I want to pay about $700 above invoice, but need accurate invoice to make offers.

 

www.carsdirect.com is another site that'll list you an invoice price, as well as an "offer" price (that you can probably beat).

Make sure you have all the same options selected on both sites. I know Edmund's doesn't always force you to check all the prerequisites properly, not sure about KBB. It may be helpful to use Infiniti's build-your-own section, and compare it's MSRP with the MSRP of the results from other sites just to make sure you have a valid configuration.

 

I double checked...edmunds and kbb's invoice price for car alone with no options is about $450 different. Infiniti dealer showed me their invoice which is about $250 above edmunds invoice price for car alone (no options).

 

400 sounds like the marketing fee.

The dealership will tell you that Edmunds does not consider some things and thus the difference. It was kinda funny when I purchase my car because I did a bunch of research and had Edmunds pricing in my hand at deal time. To my surprise, the salesman went to get a print out of Edmunds TMV to do the negotiations. The salesman took the TMV difference and took it off the car I wanted. I said no good, that is 5% over invoice. I gave him my print out and he said that Edmunds does not consider little costs here and there which makes up the $400 difference. I said, I don't care where it comes from, just give it to me for $500 over invoice and you got a deal. He said no way, I say, have a nice day. I got my car a few weeks later. Hope this helps.
