6MT replacement is awesome

I took my car in for a bad 5th gear syncro, the solution for which was a new tranny. I'm amazed what a different shift feel this has. It has some tightness, which is normal for a new tranny, but once a gear is in place, it's there's no wobble, the whole thing just feels more precise. Does anyone know if Infiniti has redesigned the transmission? I hope so, since I don't want 5th breaking after another 13k miles.

Yes

You are riding their 5th revision (in 18 months) tranny believe it or not! So let's hope they get it right this time. They are improvong with every revision. Nissan makes awesome engines but crappy MTs.

Is the clutch travel length shorter?

Re: 6MT replacement is awesome

how did you prove your 5th gear was messed up?

mine started grinding once in awhile when first driving after warm up. but i doubt i can reproduce it at the dealers.

and do you think they will void my warranty on it becuase i didnt the clutch travel adjustment?

To answer your questions.

1) The clutch travel is the same

2) I had a sporadic 5th gear grind for a while, of course the dealer never caught that. Eventually the problem degenerated to the point where shifting from 3rd to 5th would cause a grind all the time. The dealer drove it, verified the problem, and fixed it. Just wait, it will get worse :-)

Does anyone privy to the inside poop happen to have the 6MT tranny revision dates and details? That would be helpful. Thanks

Just try calling your parts dept. If they are nice, and if you ask nicely, you may have some success. If not, call Infiniti of Marin (look up the phone #), their parts dept. is NOT very busy.

hmm, if this is the 5th revision already, should i wait until there is a 6th or a 7th revision? dont want to get teh 5th revision only to have it break after my warranty is up.
