Rear window SEAL? Good design?

Rear window SEAL? Good design?
Doesn't it seem strange the G35 does not have a outer rubber seal around the rear window. It seems that their should have been an outer rubber rim encasing the window. It just seems a little different. I have never seen this on any car I have owned. Check out the bottom of the rear window where the window meets the trunk. The glass is laying there? No rubber seal (at least that can be seen.) I'm sure something is there...
Any one wonder about this too. I noticed while washing the car.
Any thoughts? I appeal to the intellect of this forum.

The seal is under the glass. Water channels down the sides and along a lip under the edge of the trunk lid, and off the rear bumper. I'm not sure why they did it. Maybe it has something to do with the low coefficient of drag they managed to achieve. I've also seen that various satellite installs route the antenna cable through that channel to keep it hidden.
