VDC and slip light on

hey guys well, i was on my way home and it start snowing which i love haha

so with a nice fresh cost of snow on the ground i turned off the VDC and started to have a lil fun, so i was just tryin to do a LITTLE drift, nothing big just testing out the AWD in the snow for the first time.

as i was doing this the "VDC off" light was on, and as the wheels were slipping the "slip" light was coming on, so what im wondering is it this is normal?

BTW i have an 2004 X and snow mode was NOT on.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes that is completely normal. Turning the VDC off just raises the limits of the traction control. It does not completely disable it. To disable the traction control completely you have to unplug a wire harness attached to the control box under the arm rest. There is a thread on here discussing it in detail.

If it stays on, and a little noise comes from the engine bay, idk, take it to the dealer.

Thing happened to us on our old 04 X and it got very expensive (thank you for warranty)

I was kinda sliding around tonight in the 08, pulled in the garage and somthing kinda smelt like it was burning. Is that good or bad? lol maybe just water or snow splashing on the exhaust?

I'd worry about the safety hazards associated with performing dangerous maneuvers on public roads.

While I do agre with that statement...when there is fresh snow on the ground it is sometimes better to drive a little excessive. I highly recommend to anyone with a new to them car that lives in a snow enviornment, to go to the nearest parking lot and test your cars limits!

I just LOVE your holier than thou attitude. Just LOVE it.

Like whippin a cookie in a deserted empty parking lot at 8pm is really going to hurt somone.

I will agree though, i do not go flyin, tokyo drift down main streets, if im just turning up my street or somthing, ill give it a little extra gas.
