my best answer would be to just change the oil and use the preference that you want... I use using full synthetic and i am loving it!

By the way, welcome to driver and if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask...

Welcome to Driver....!

There's no way unless you took a sample to a chemist. However now would
be a perfect time to make sure your new car is getting the best oil possible.
Costco sells Mobil 1 with filter for $24.99, that's a great deal take advantage
of it. Or Wall Mart sells Mobil 1 for a good price just not as good as Costco.

Anyone know what size the nut is on the drain pan?

Also, does this 3.5L use the same TINY oil filter as an '05 Maxima? I've done a change on that car before, just wondering if it's the same.

I haven't done an oil change on my G yet since i got it, so just trying to prepare. I'm one of those people that changes my own oil even if it's 10 degrees outside.

IIRC, 14mm. And, the filter is pretty small.

Yeah the oil filter is pretty much right there next to the oil drain pan, you can't miss it. There's enough space there to use a filter wrench to remove the filter. Glad to hear you're willing to brave the elements of Mother Nature to get an oil change done

You can use the tiny filter, Mobil 1 MI-108, or go for a bigger one, Mobil 1 MI-110.

While it's relatively easy to do, I'd get a buddy to assist, especially one that knows a bit about oil changes. The DIY's here are excellent.... but, one mishap and you could have a real mess on your hands (i.e, oil everywhere--- ever try to clean up an oil spill???). Good luck and welcome to the Forum!

SMALLER, I was shocked. But seems to work perfectly well. I'm going with the Maxima-sized Amsoil filter next change.

OP, it's an easy job even if you're not very mechanically inclined and you'll be satisfied in the end that it's been done right.

For a DIY get a Fumotovalve as well. It'll make the whole process a ton cleaner and easier!
