Late downshift when braking

Has anyone ever experienced this?

There have been occasions where I've been applying brakes and the transmission still felt as if it were in a higher gear as well as higher RPMS. Scared me a bit since I had to hit the brakes harder. I could feel the final downshift when the car was almost completely stopped.

I have an 05 X (obviously an AT).

Thoughts?

Thanks,
George

I have noticed it once before. It doesn't do it all the time for me, but i can remember a recent situation where it did. I'll be slowing, the trans will downshift and i'll get a subtle surge when it revs up and comes down.

I have not experienced this, when hitting brakes the engine drops down to idle until I tap the accelerator.
