Don't you hate it when....

You are sitting at the last traffic light before a long stretch with no lights, and virtually no possible law enforcement, and a metallic blue STI is sitting at the light with you. To make matters worse a shiny red EVO VIII pulls up right behind you. Then you look to your right and remember that you 78 year old mother in law is in the front passenger seat. True story.

I would have shown your mother-in-law some fun, unless she has some kind of medical condition.

Last summer I went with my 72 year old Dad to Cedar Point where we rode the Top Thrill Dragster, the highest, fastest roller coaster in the world.

I hate that judgement call of push it or dont depending on who is in the car. I pulled out in front of and pulled on a modded WRX on the t-pike and put my foot in it when he attempted to do a ricer flyby around another car to get past me the other day and expected some shiiit from GF and lo and behold she's like "what was that? are you faster? Why did you just flash your hazards _ dont get us shot" she says!

Similar thing happened to me, only it was a twisty stretch of road ahead. It would not have been racing, per se, but a mile or two of hard "pacing". Only problem? I had a backseat full of Chocolate Labrador Retriever. I didn't want a car-full of drifting dog hair, gooey slobber, nor anything else that could possibly spring from the body of a frightened animal...

Similar thing happened to me, only it was on my way home from dinner. My wife was in the car with me. I was on a new stretch of hwy and there wasn't anyone around except for an Eclipse and me. I had a couple of drinks at dinner and didn't want to play. He was on my bumper so I moved over to the other lane. He moved over behind me. Now I'm mad. So I proceeded to brace my wife with my right arm and slammed on the brakes. I looked behind me and saw a cloud of smoke and headlights up in the rocks off to the side of the hwy. I continued on and never saw by the time I had exited. My wife was livid but I didn't care. I still don’t.

Right On, TWBLG35SDN !!

Don't forget that our BRAKES are just as exceptional as the acceleration & handling. It's funny to see the panic on their faces when they suddenly realize they CAN'T stop in time to avoid you - then I let off the brakes to avoid the rear ender and they go somewhere and change their shorts.

Stopping short is a risky move. If the guy was dumbass enough to do what he did, he's probably dumbass enough to rear-end you!. All he has to do is look away for a split second and then you're both toast!!!

Re: Don't you hate it when....

I have heard of situations where a rear end accident occurs where a persons stops short intentionally, and is then held responsible for damage, and is ticketed. As much as this might seem like a good way to get someone off your bumper, you can be held liable if he hits you.

Re: Don't you hate it when....

Its a judgement call - everytime I have done the manuever not only does it po my girl it scares the guy enough to back off which for several more miles may offer you some safe cushioning from an a-hole. If you can't get past em and he's riding you he's prone to hit you anyway. You shouldn't hold the brakes - you should only blip em to rock the car and then floor it....i'd rather that than have someone on my bumper for 20 miles...unless they have a gun which makes all of this un-recommendable really at all....judgement is crucial and staying safe should be the utmost priority nor revenge.
