buying advice
Hi everyone. I'm considering buying an 04 G35X sedan with 16k on it. The price is 14,999. I would like your advice on the price? And any known issues I should look for? What should I know to be an informed buyer.
thanks
thanks
16k is amazingly low. confirm it wasn't in a wreck and spent about a year of its life at a body shop being slowly repaired and getting the DMV to waive the salvage title...
kbb.com edmunds.com are a great source to check if the price is a fair price.
g35's dont typically break down, but small minor things could be looked at but nothing to make you not buy a car. rattles, squeeks , radio problems are commonly found on all cars.

That price is very low. Run a CarFax, Carcheck, etc. It's worth it. What do the tires look like, original? Brakes? It should look almost new with those miles. Does it still have the manual, first aid kit? What does the spare look like? What does the oil look like? Antifreeze and brake fluids should look almost new.
i thought mine was low, 26k a yr ago! and mine WAS resprayed... i was able to figure out what the damage was before purchasing it... take the time to research it before picking it up.
i'm going to go look at it and drive it this weekend. i was a tech for about 5 years so I hope I'll catch any problems. i'll do the car fax too. i'll probably buy the thing if they can give me what I need on my Saab.

mileage and brakes are very small items. and on top of that the are driver controlled not a flaw of the car. yea don't expect 30mpg but then again how many entry level luxury cars can hit 30mpg.
yeah, if i get 25 ish mpg (i do almost all highway) I would be fine with that. I'll swap pads/rotors myself so that's not a big deal. I think I know what I'm getting. I was more concerned with whether I should get an aftermarket warranty or not? For major repairs or electronic stuff that I may not be able to diag.
by the way, thanks to all who have responded.

You might be able to get a warranty, but not from Infiniti. The way I understand it, is that the car must be less than 4 years old AND have less than 60k miles.
However, I think that the factory warranty might still be in effect. I believe it is 6 years or 60,000 miles.
Try sending an e-mail or calling Infiniti headquarters to confirm.

That price seems about fair market value now. The G35's (at least around here) are not holding their value that well anymore. You can get an 05 for about $16K now, and 06 for about $18K...
Bumper-to-bumper is 48mo/60K. Powertrain is 72mo/70K. Value's probably down now due to the redesign in 07, then the new G37. Whenever a new design comes out, the old drops pretty big. Also, car values in general are down right now due to economic conditions. It's a good deal for anyone in the market for a used car.
Seriously?????, and I thought I got a good deal (yesterday)
2004 G35x 53,xxx for $13,725 with powertrain warrenty to 70,000 (Traded in a 97 Acura CL 2.2 with 162,xxx for $1200, which made the sale $12,525)
If the carfax is clean, do it. BTW if you need a carfax, just send me(PM) the VIN....I have free reports til Mid Feb......it could save you around $30
FYI - My bank estimated my car at $16,900
