Shifter Plate / Center creaks under braking
I have an 05 Sedan AT that i picked up at the end of last month. So far my only complaint is when applying the brake the whole shifter area (plastic housing, aluminum finisher, and gear selection plate) seems to move or twist causing a creak/pop. I can duplicate the sound just by gently touching this section of the center console.
Anyone else have this issue and fix it themselves? I took a look at the DIY rattle in this section, but i don't know that its that simple. There is alot of flex and movement in this section on my car.
Thanks for the help.

yes ive been plaqued with this too. It seems when the cup holder cover is open it creaks more.
I took some steps to fix it by placing felt pads underneath the aluminum shifter plate. I popped the shifter plate up with a plastic putty knive and put some small felt pads around the bottom where it touches the plastic. They were thick enough to fill in the gap and provide some pressure against the pieces so it does not creak and pop as much going over bumps.
It still creaks once and a while but not as bad as before, im sure I could take apart the dash more to silence the sounds but im sure doing this would just set me up for more new creaks and its just not worth it to me.

Thanks, I went nuts with the felt sheets. It was a little tight getting it snapped back in, but so far no noise at all.
Now that i have the felt, i might attack the Z over the weekend.
