Chirping into 4th?!

Has anyone been able to get their car to chirp from 3rd to 4th? The reason why I ask is because when shifting from 3rd to 4th, I have noticed (or at least I think I heard) a chirping sound as if my tires broke loose from the payment. Maybe because my tires are wearing down might account for it, but not sure.

OR maybe my car came with alot more horsepower, hmmm. Just kidding on the last part.

Any experiences or thoughts on the matter would be great.

Maybe I am just losing my mind. LOL

The other thing that could have had an effect is the surface of the road. Just another thought.

Re: Chirping into 4th?!

The last time the tranny had to be replaced (2nd time) I had the dealer replace the clutch plate, through out bearing and pressure plate. I played with the idea of changing the flywheel to a lighter one but stayed stock all the way around. The original clutch was OK. I could get 2nd to 3rd chirps. When they replaced the clutch for the new one they said that Infiniti (Nissan) had improved the clutch plate and that they would pay for the parts and larbor for the clutch plate. The new design is awesome. I can now get 4th to 5th chirps! I can get rubber on any surface any time from 3rd to 4th. This was even before I put in the Kaaz LSD. The Kaaz makes it quite a bit tougher to get rubber from 3rd to 4th now.

These cars have so much torque. I have even changed the tires to 225/50ZR17's and they still break loose.

About the only time I can't break the tires loose is at AutoX events when I run the Kuhmo Victoracers. They are very sticky. I just changed to the Falken Azenis 245/45ZR17 so they should do pretty well also.

Thanks for the posts!
My tranny had to be replaced 2 times as well. They replaced the clutch also. I didn't know that there was a new design though. The new design makes me happy. I am also relieved to know that I am not the only one to have experienced the awesome power of this car.

yes third to fourth can get a chirp, be careful around corners since 3-4 happens at 78 mph or so. I did this around a corner and about lost it when the tires broke loose. But straight line I do it all the time, i.e. heading up the interstate ramp.

Re: Chirping into 4th?!

How many miles do you have on your tires? As your tires age, they get less sticky. Heat cycling, from everyday driving, causes the rubber to harden over time.

I've noticed that I'm able to chirp 2nd to 3rd easier than before. I now have about 13,500 miles on my car (with the stock Turanza all-seasons). I can really break the rear tires loose going from 1st to 2nd now.

Re: Chirping into 4th?!

I've got 22,000 miles on it. I need new tires, but instead of getting new tires right now, I am looking at getting some rims.

Re: Chirping into 4th?!

Yup! The G35 should've come with a wider and stickier tire.
