Wheel opinion needed

I have the option of picking up a set of wheels (with tire) this Sunday for a really good price. My rear tires are going bald so I'm thinking of either getting a set of wheels or changing out the tires on the stock wheels. The set that is for sale are Motegi SP10 18x8 +40mm in a matte black finish. What do you guys think of the wheels? Would dark wheels cheapen the look of my car in contrast with the brilliant silver paint? The wheels are decently light at 18lbs for 18's. Are those offsets even compatible with a RWD layout or would it look awkward?

ideal offset for a sedan from what i understand is about +30. your offset will look simliar to stock if anything. wheels sound like a great lightweight option. If you like the wheels by all means get them. Soon you will here the work/volk wheel guys come in and say these wheels stink.

The wheels aren't forged so they aren't as strong as some work/volk wheels but hey your OEM aren't either. So if your OEM can last so will these. Go for them if you have the money. Consider getting a 10mm spacer if you wanted the flush look.

What he ^ said. A light car with dark wheels usually looks great IMHO.

Universal type wheels with multiple lugnut patterns screams cheapness to me. It ruins the wheel IMHO

Offset will depend on the width of the rim also. Mine are 19" by 8" with a 30 offset and they are as flush as you can get without rolling the fenders. In the back you can't get a pencil in between the tire and the fender.

The wheels you posted will look stock (as to offset) when on the car.

Some one do a PS on this.

PS: If you do get them, go with black lugs, dark tint, overlays on the tail and headlights and a black out emblemless grill. So sexy.

I'd definitely get wheel spacers and they will be coming with black lugs. The car is already tinted and lowered as well. If I go with 10mm spacers would I need to get longer studs?

most 10mm spacers req longer studs
15mm and above have built in studs/wheel adapter style

but the 15mm in his case would be overkill. maybe look into 5mm spacers..

I would get them, those look kinda like the Nismo Maxima rims. You can always do the spacer and studs later.

I ran 5mm spacers in front with my M45 sport rims. Without the extended lugs I had 6.5 turns of make up on the nuts. With the extended, I had a full 9.5 turns. Some people run without, I didn't want to take the chance.

lol, 15mm studs would be his best option IMO... 18x8 is weak.. 18x8 +25 is weak, even with a 245/40 tire. I'm going to run an 18x9.5 +15 or 19x8.5 +14

absolutely not, that would be very very unsafe. Anything over 3mm needs a spacer.
