Introducing myself and asking for opinions! :)

Hey guys/girls!

I just recently got myself a 2004 G35 sedan (white). It is currently completely stock and I am looking for some easy to moderate/not-so-expensive mods. I am 20 and go to a private college and as you can imagine, I am pretty much almost 100% broke now lol . I have been ripping thru these forums for the last 4 days or so and have some good ideas but just want to hear what all you experienced posters think is the best/least expensive mod to do first to make my car stand out from the average G35 sedan. I'm currently thinking about doing the Halo conversion kit and possibly something to make both the headlight bulbs match a more "white light" or blue (HID) color. I also saw a few sedans that have a really cool looking grille insert that looks similar to this one, but I could only find one that said "coupe" on ebay and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find one?

Any help or suggestions would be great just trying to figure prices and difficulty level of the mods you guys suggest

Thanks guys, your forum has already helped me a lot!
-Ethan

just so you know, those grills youre looking for, just give them a second thought. At least here in baltimore, people WILL grap that hood release cable and either f*** with your motor or take any shiny parts off of it(usually shiny means expensive). IMO yes they look good but think about the area youre in for the grill. some other inexpensive mods for you are going to be things like lowering springs, ztube, pop charger, spacer, clear corners, coupe midpipe.

Welcome!!!

Not much into headlight mods....but, would def. go with a Z-Tube and drop in K&N....
I put a coupe mid-pipe on the 05 sedan that I traded for my coupe and really liked it!!!
Wife won't let me put one on her 05 sedan.
After that, motordyne spacer.

Concentrate on the engine: JWT popcharger, plenum spacer, do the halo conversion that would be nice.

I bought my grille from this guy http://myworld.ebay.com/utrevolution. To solve the theft problem, get a decent alarm.

wow cool guys thanks for the fast response, will look into what everyone has mentioned so far. And good call on the grille, I had never thought of that although where I live isnt too bad it's still something I did not take into consideration.

Keep in mind, most engine mods are good for sound only. A spacer is the best bang for the buck, but won't make you any faster alone. If you really want noticable performance gain from bolt on's, be prepared to spend a few grand.

Aesthetic and handling mods might be a better place to start depending on what you want.

Right, I am not SO new to most bolt on mods, I recently had a Z28 (catback, headers, HFC, Intake, a lot of visual mods) and my first concern is looks/sound with this car, not so much HP. I read about the intake systems you guys suggested (Z-Tube and JWT popcharger). The reason I got the G35 sedan was cause it is comfortable and more practical than my Z28 for where I am, and it is not so much a "vag" car with her decent HP lol . It sucked not having a winter car up in NY :\ so I played my cards, and am happy with my choice, the G35 sedan. Going from domestic to import is a big difference though, what exactly does the spacer do in terms of horsepower/sound/performance, and where can I find one for the best price? I notice they go for $250ish where I was looking, which is a bit steep for me until this summer. BTW I can't afford a ztube or popcharger yet either, but I am letting you all know there is a ztube on ebay right now for $75.. which looks like a damn good deal from what I have seen. If I am wrong, please show me a link/site/store that has a better price for both the spacer, popcharger and/or ztube.

Thanks guys

The motordyne spacer is the most popular. It is also the best bang for the buck. 5+hp throughout the powerband is very good for a couple hundred bucks. It's not enough to make you any faster, until you spend a lot more money on the other bolt on's and a tune.
