My G35S Project

Well, I'm almost finished (for right now). Only thing left is the Crawford Plenum which should be coming in a few days. Here's what I did:

- G35S AT Premium Sport
- Popcharger/Z-Tube
- Stillen Catback
- Custom install for Pioneer Avic-N1 w/ TV tuner (see other posts for pictures)
- Dynamat floors and trunk (gonna do doors myself)
- Nismo aero kit
- T-Rex billet grilles
- 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 Axis Supermesh
- Falken FK451 245/35/19 fronts
- Falken ST115 285/30/18 rears
- Tein S-techs
- Llumar Formula One tint. 35% rear, 50% front
- Clear corners
- Debadged rear

Don't even ask how much all this cost.

So for observations so far, surprisingly the S-Techs and 19s don't make the ride all that much stiffer than the stock sport. On the downside, I get really nervous with speed bumps and steep driveways now. I've already scraped my car a few times. I guess that's the price we live with. A friend of mine (who's not into cars) said to me "Andrew, a car has to driveable, not just a rolling piece of art". Not sure whether I should be offended or flattered by that. At least he called it a "rolling piece of art".

I have a problem right now with the car pulling to the right but the installer thinks it's radial pull in the tires and are gonna have them replaced under manufacturer warrantee. Let's see, any other problems? Hm... I scratched my rims the other day. That was painful. Also, the installer scratched the paint in my front right quarter-panel. They're gonna pay for getting it repainted but it's still a pain.

All in all, I like the results. Only wish it didn't scrape. Oh well, that's the price we pay. Pictures in the next post. Sorry for the picture quality. Took it on my phone's camera.

Andrew

Achee, just curious, what are the offsets on your wheels, you have 285s in the back and no rubbing? did you have to roll the fender?

03.5 BS, 6MT, premium, 19" Kaizer wheels, Skyline badges, PIAA HID upgrade, Racing pedals, clear lenses, 35% tint, 7-wire ground, TEIN basics, side mirror blinkers

Re: My G35S Project

It looks great. I can't even think about all of the mods yet. I am still enjoying the stock car.

Happy to own my G35X

Doh! Sorry. They're 275/30/19s. I keep getting them mixed up cause I was thinking between those and 285/30/19s. Sorry. I'm not sure if the 285s would rub.

Re: My G35S Project

Yeah, T-Rex sent me the correct mounting brackets so the lower grilles went on just fine. I think I'm done for right now. I've come to realize that maybe I should have spent a bit more money on the wheels. The Axis Supermesh are a bit heavier than the stock 17s and I've come to understand the practical meaning of inertial mass. Off the line acceleration feels slower than before because of the extra mass in the wheels. That's one thing I'm considering in the far future. Then of course, there's always a supercharger....

Your car looks clean achee. What offset do the wheels have?
