Unhappy Turn Signal Issue.... Need Help

I have a 2003.5 6MT that I got last summer. The other day my dad was following me and noticed an issue with my turn signals. When I turn the signals on, both left and right blinkers start flashing similar to if the hazards were on and the brake leds turn on and off. The front signals are unaffected. I turned the car off trying to figure out what was going on once I got home and when I turned it on again, everything was working normal again. Today I was changing the oil and I decided to see what mood the signals were in and they were messing up again. Has anyone else seen this on their G or heard of this before?

Sounds like a short. Could be a short in the trigger wire, in the BCM that controls the turn signals..

If you don't have a warranty to fix the issue start simple, change the bulbs in both. If that does not fix it you may have to try to have the dealer dig into it.

if it does turn out to be a wiring issue, i HIGHLY advise going to the stealership... wiring is a PAIN.

After some more observations, the signals didn't flash when I used the key fob. I would say this would eliminate a short in the trigger wire. When I had the car running and the signals were still acting up, I tapped on the left rear signal and it fixed itself. Being how soft I actually tapped it, I'm hoping its just a loose connector. I'll take a look at the wiring tomorrow even though I'm much more mechanically inclined than electrical. I don't have the money to take it to a dealer really so I'm hoping its something I can fix.

Well I had this issue in my Audi S4.. and it turned out to be a bad relay in the hazard switch?! Sooo I would highly advise taking it to an electrical shop.. NOT the stealership. They don't know squat about electrical usually

Have some faith boys. I'm still around rockin the G, I just haven't posted anything in quite some time.

My problem was related to a loose grounding bolt. The bolt is located in the trunk, near the driver side brake light assembly. You will need to pull back the trunk liner to access it. The problem is that they put a machine screw into sheet metal and there just isn't enough sheet metal for the bolt to grab onto. To fix it, I simply put a bolt on the back side of the screw so that it would always get good contact. I actually found the issue by turning the turn signals on and I was able to hear the loose grounding wire arcing.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask as I am still around

I thought I had already posted my fix when I figured it out before but I guess that was a different forum. I'll admit that I typically just pay attention to the marketplace and probably wouldn't have seen this thread pop back up if it hadn't been for the email alert for thread activity.
