Crap...I can't even log what's going on in my engine? How do I even know if my Trottle body is opening completely or if I have knock without using a bad *** scanner?

If you're simply looking for a good OBDII scanner, then consider OBD Scan from Harrison RD http://www.obdscan.net/ It's far cheaper than Cipher and has the same capabilities except it won't change timing advance 2 degrees like Cipher. I've run the Harrison RD unit since 2000 and it's been great. It's worked on every 1996+ Japanese import I've worked on including Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, Subarus, and Infinitis.
almost all OBD2 scan software can give you live data. idle adjustments... no or timing adjustments. that is only cypher i think.
blaztZ is another good software i've seen in the sub $200 range. its specfic to nissan. All software i've seen is sub $200 other then cypher.
I dont know if i want to go with a nissan specfic of a generic type of software. I'm sure this isn't my last car i'll buy so i didn't want to be stuck with useless software. $200 can get me a little extra in specfic nissan or generic everything.
Autoenginuity seems to be something that has HIGHLY peaked my interest. Overall i think i'm going that route since if i get the nissan/infiniti package i can operate some of the AWD stuff on my X sedan.

Cipher worked on my 03 doggy door, car has build date of 12/02. Some features wont work like the BCM features. I was able to ajust idle and check some other stuff out. You wont be able to read any A/F data since 03 dont have the O2 sensor capabilities.

For the moment yes...raising the idle speed is a must for me since I'm gonna be getting poly engine mounts and advancing timing is a nice plus. If I can get another scanner that can do this for less than Cipher then I'd hit it.
