The sound will remain the same, so no point, no extra hp, so no point. Go for aftermarket y-pipe, sounds way better or just custom bend your own y-pipe, go for like 2.5 or 3inch, it will sound awesome! Imo
First generation awd y-pipe is the same as a standard de y-pipe. The 05-06x y-pipe look like the hr y-pipe. So he will get some sound, i got a nice growl when i added mines, the car pulls a tiny bit harder as well, but nothing crazy.

mine too... who knows when I'll post pics... when its done (next weekend hopefully), I'll post rude pics - but I need to get together with gdupsedan to finish my photo shoot - then I'll post good pics. Probably be at meets before decent pics

Its just a bunch of cosmetic stuff (not the typical stuff though) - many already know that – I know you do...

Sound is definitely not gonna be the same, the HR y-pipe is quite a bit different. I think DaveB made a thread comparing the two.

And there's no sense going 3" unless you're FI.

Explain? Dont you make power either way, its just an exhaust its not like the price dramatically changes so why not.

umm think about it in terms of a spacer. The 5/16 spacer makes power in different areas. and the 1/2 spacer makes more power in the higher rpms (about 1-2)

Anything more than 2.5 is overkill and is not anywhere close to the gains you would get with a 2.5. 3 is for turbo applications. If you have a NA and want to keep it that way, then 2.5 or 2.25 is where you would get the most out of ur exhaust.

Im not really a technical guy but Tony at Motordyne tested different sizes and 2-2.5 makes more power than 3.00 i belive. Dont quote me on that thoo.

as long as there are no delays I should be getting it that morning - so we'll see... it will probably be filthy! Especially inside - chances are I'll be washing/cleaning it all weekend (so it can sit in the garage for another 4 weeks )
