New hp evo rims on G35x, wheel spacers on AWD
What's up guys, just wondering if putting spacers only on the rear tires, will affect the AWD system?
Also, purchased 18" HP evo's for my 04 G35x sedan and was not able to put the center caps on due to the, I guess its called the "axle stud" being too long. Wheels are 18x8 with 38 offset. Was able to put the caps on the back with a small spacer, but not the fronts. Order a set of different caps which are deeper that will fit all around without any spacers.
Pics are posted, third shows what i'm talking about.

The AWD system is only affected if the front and rear tires are different diameters.
You could run 13" wide rims with 4" long spacers and be fine as long as the rolling diameter equalled the fronts.
Those are some nice clean wheels. Personally, i do not like spacers at all. I think they are dangerous. I'd try to exhaust all center cap options first before resorting to spacers if you possibly can
BTW, that part is called the spindle snout....or at least that's what i've heard it referred to

Thanks, actually got a really good deal on the wheels, got them off this guy that took them off his mustang. Only had them on for like 3 months, tires are practically new. Rim shop ordered me caps that fit nicely, should get them tomorrow.
So, might remove the rear spacers when I get my caps, but it's good to know that running spacers in the rears and not the front won't affect the AWD.
Noticing now with new wheels that my steering wheel shakes a bit when going around 60mph. Co-worker told me to get a road force wheel balance, this should fix the problem. Has anyone ever used this method of balancing? Also, what's good price? Shop around Bklyn charges 20 bucks a wheel.

Are they F&R specific? You could try swapping front to rear and see if that moves the problem. Usually a slightly out of balance wheel is absorbed better in the rear. SOmetimes you might not even feel it.
Also, i think Mustangs and G35's have different hub sizes. You might want to measure the hub on the car and the inner hole on the rim and see if the sizes match up. You may need a hubcentric spacer to help center the wheel better. May not be your problem, but something to be aware of.

Didn't think about swapping F&R's, the rim shop took care of that for me. The guy seemed to know what he was doing. Before purchasing these rims I called a rim shop and asked if I could swap these rims from a mustang to a G and I was told yes, because the rims come in a 38 offset only if you get 18"s.
Tried a bigger spacer in the front but I wouldn't been able to put the studs on. Maybe I'll get one of those hubcentric spacers. Love the rims though, can't wait to drop the car on H&R's.

Yeah, the offsets are very similar. I've often thought about swapping rims between my Mustang and G35 just to be different

Well that depends. If the wheel is out of balance, then you will need to rebalance. A road force balance is a pretty good balance.
I've seen guys here post up links to hubcentric spacers. I don't know of any sites offhand as i have not needed to buy any, but they pop up. Might want to search and see what you can find on here. I know it's been discussed

Did a search and found them going for around $30 for a set of four. I'm going to get the road force balance first, then if the vibration continues i'll get the rings. Maybe I'll have the shop that will do the road force balance just throw them in just to save time. Just want to the car to ride smooth around 80 mph or faster! haha....
