Nissan Quality vs. Infiniti Quality
Nissan Quality vs. Infiniti Quality
I know Nissan is Infiniti's parent company, but does Infiniti have more strict qualitly control than Nissan? The reason I ask is because I owned an 03 350Z and I was not too impressed with the build quality after a few thousand miles. Also, where is the G35x built? What percentage of the car is Japanese or Canadian or US or anyother country?
Thanks a bunch, folks! I truly appreciate all your feedback.

Re: Nissan Quality vs. Infiniti Quality
What was the problem with your car? I have heard a lot of the 03's were haunted by squeaks and rattles.. my 03.5 seems pretty tight though

Re: Nissan Quality vs. Infiniti Quality
I'm happy to hear the 03.5 350z got the quality issues taken care of. My 03 had all sorts of rattles and squeeks, the tires wore so unevenly that they'd make a roaring sound when coming to a stop, grease on the windows, a terrible sounding Bose system, and a CD changer that constantly jammed. So you can see why I'm a liitle worried about possibly buying another Nissan product, and why I'm curious to know if Infiniti is held to a higher quality standard than a Nissan car.
Re: Nissan Quality vs. Infiniti Quality
I would say from my experience so far (we have an '03 FX35 and the '04.5 G35), that the Infiniti quality may not be quite as high as say, Lexus (I've had a few of them), but it's certainly higher than Nissan (I've had a couple of Nissans as well...loved them btw).
Other than a few minor issues that were fixed (e.g. door buzzing/rattles when I played my music loud and the Tire Pressure Monitor light falsely coming on after driving 45 min. on the highway), my G35 has been very good so far with about 2,500mi. Again, considering that Infiniti is Nissan's high-end near-lux/luxury brand, it holds itself to a higher quality standard to compete with Lexus, BMW, MB, Acura, and Audi. Otherwise, it would never compete on just producing fast cars alone...look at Pontiac/GM for example -- known for fast cars...yes, known for high quality...no.

Re: Nissan Quality vs. Infiniti Quality
If you check reliability ratings (like JD Powers), the Infiniti brand ranks much higher than Nissan. Usually Lexus is #1 and Infiniti is #2.
