Battery replacement decision and thank you

Normally, There comes a day when the battery dies. It's usually on a day that I really need the car. My replacement battery, by necessity, has to be purchased local. The battery now becomes a compromise.
This time I decided to replace the battery BEFORE it dies. I figure that three years is enough for my 2005 G35X. I went with an Optima SC34R Red Top.
How to install the battery in a G35X was my next problem. Thanks to a well written and documented thread by Texasscout the how to install problem was solved.
The battery arrived and thanks to Texasscout, the installation went smoothly.
The only problem is that the little plugs holding the battery cover gets destroyed in the process. Does anyone know a good source for these plugs?

You should have bought the diehard platinum. Its a gel cell battery, on par with optima.

I installed an Optima 34R in my car and didn't have any problems so I'm not sure what you are referring to. I ended up returning it though because the dealer offered to replace my battery for free. They gave me some generic turd from O'Reilly's, but it was free and starts my car.

When you install a new battery you must remove the top of the battery compartment. The battery compartment is secured by five-plastic plugs. Removing these plugs makes them unusable. My question is: Does anyone know of a source online for these plastic plugs.

I replaced my battery last Sunday and found that it was the original battery from 04.....not too bad for 5 years and 57,xxx miles. I went with the Gold top diehard. It took me about 20 minutes to change.

For the pop-tabs- I broke a few off when installing my ipod integration unit and called the dealer. (this was about 2 months ago)

Small tabs are $3 each
Hook pop tabs (for the trunknet) were $8 each

Definitely a rip off, but i bit anyways. The dealer can also ship them to your house, which was convenient for me because I live an hour away from the nearest dealer.

They can be re-used if removed correctly. Use a small screwdriver or small hook and pop the center plug up about 1/4" to release the pressure on the outside clip piece and carefully pull straight up. To replace simply reverse the process.

xrated, our local stealership charges .89 each. You might want to check out Riverside Infiniti, they sell packs of 10 for ~$15 includiing shipping.

Found some Push Clips at a Auto Zone store. I got 15 Push Clips for $4.32 including tax. The fit is close; this problem has been solved.
Thanks all for your input.

you can reuse these clips over and over again. pop up the center, and pull the whole clip out.

Unfortunately I didn't know. I destroyed each push clip because of my lack of knowledge. Thanks for the info. Hopefully I won't wake the same mistake again.

Also, what are the practical advantages of these performance batteries over the stock oem battery?
